Description
They key responsibilities of the Senior Quality Engineer will be:
- Quality Systems: Lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of the Quality Management System (QMS) in accordance with ISO 9001, AS9100, or other applicable standards.
- Root Cause Analysis: Conduct thorough root cause analyses of product failures or process non-conformances and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to ensure issues are effectively resolved.
- Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives through Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies to enhance product quality, reduce defects, and improve process efficiency.
- Product and Process Validation: Oversee product and process validation efforts, including First Article Inspections (FAI), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), and other quality-related verification activities.
- Supplier Quality Management: Collaborate with suppliers to establish quality standards, conduct supplier audits, resolve quality issues, and ensure the consistent quality of incoming materials and components.
- Customer Interface: Act as a key point of contact for customers regarding quality concerns, ensuring effective communication and resolution of any issues. Ensure timely responses to customer complaints, returns, or audits.
- Quality Documentation: Develop, review, and maintain quality documentation, including control plans, quality inspection procedures, work instructions, and audit reports.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant industry standards, certifications, and customer requirements, including participation in internal and external audits.
- Metrics and Reporting: Collect, analyze, and report on key quality metrics (KPIs), identifying trends and proposing solutions to improve overall quality performance.
- Leadership and Mentorship: Provide technical leadership, guidance, and mentorship to junior engineers and quality technicians, fostering a culture of quality excellence within the organization.
Profile
The successful Senior Quality Engineer will have the following:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, or related field) or equivalent experience.
- Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in quality engineering within a manufacturing or industrial environment, with preference for experience in aerospace, defense, or oil & gas industries.
- Certifications: ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Six Sigma Green/Black Belt certification preferred.
- Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of quality management systems (QMS), including ISO 9001, AS9100, and/or relevant industry-specific standards.
- Proficient in root cause analysis methodologies such as 8D, 5-Why, or Fishbone Diagrams.
- Experience with advanced quality tools such as FMEA, SPC, control plans, and PPAP.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Proficiency in quality software and statistical tools (e.g., Minitab, Excel).
