Vector Solutions is seeking a dedicated Manager of Software Engineering to transform education through innovative technology solutions. As the Manager of Software Engineering, you will lead a team of talented engineers to design, develop, and deliver cutting-edge software solutions that enhance our educational products. You will be responsible for driving technical excellence, fostering a collaborative team environment, and ensuring that our software meets the highest standards of quality and performance.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Provides leadership, development, and teambuilding to the software engineering team.
  • Develop and execute software engineering plans and manage software engineering schedules and resources allocation and budget.
  • Create and track as needed, software engineering processes, practices, and operations.
  • Engages, negotiates, and manages third party vendors contracted for development projects.
  • Engages in hands-on, in-depth analysis, review and design of the software including technical review of source code.
  • Works closely with managers to ensure development meets or exceeds customer requirements.
  • Ensures that all product designs are well documented, communicated and timeline is tracked.
  • Provide sound decision making for software engineering and product development, sensitive to the constraints and needs of the business.
  • Stays abreast in emerging technology trends in product area and presents to software engineering team for their understanding.
  • Manages and motivates staff (including hiring, performance management and recognition duties).
  • Assess staffing needs, and recruit staff using methods such as newspaper advertisements or attendance at job fairs.
  • Schedules staff working hours. Recommends overtime, approve timecards for staff and forwards to director for payroll preparation.
  • Enforces staff and conditioning room policies and procedures.
  • Recruits, trains, schedules and evaluates subordinates according to established procedures.


Requirements


  • Experience with the following: MySQL, PostGres, PHP, Angular, Kafka and Microservices.
  • Experience with Scala Akka and functional programming is a plus.
  • 6+ years of experience in the field or in a related area.
  • Bachelor's degree in the area of Computer Science or related field.
  • Capable of communicating with technical and non-technical people.
