Engineering Manager - Developer Experience

OVERVIEW

We are partnering with a global fintech client to hire an Engineering Manager to lead their Developer Experience (DEVX) Engineering team. Reporting to the Director of Developer Platform Engineering, this role is pivotal in driving continuous improvements to developer experience and productivity. Data will be at the core of their strategy, utilizing DORA, SPACE, and custom metrics to develop solutions that significantly enhance developer experience and productivity across the company. This hybrid role (50% in-office), located in the Greater Seattle Area, will have a substantial impact on the business, as developer experience is key to the client's overall success.

• Salary Range: $194,000 – $242,000 DOE
• Must be located in the Greater Seattle Area – this is a hybrid role and requires 2-3 days (50% in-office) a week at the Client’s Seattle, WA headquarters.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide inspirational leadership and mentorship to a team of software engineers, fostering their growth and empowering them to create world-class developer experience solutions.
• Develop long-term organizational and technical strategies that will shape how engineering functions across the company.
• Collaborate with engineering teams worldwide across the company to drive measurable improvements in developer productivity and satisfaction, fostering a positive and efficient engineering culture.
• Actively engage with and collaborate with engineering teams to gather valuable qualitative feedback, using these insights to inform and refine the DEVX roadmap and prioritize key initiatives.
• Build solutions that prioritize security, compliance, and operational excellence.
• Stay ahead of the curve by proactively identifying emerging technologies and trends, ensuring our developer community has access to a continuously evolving and improving ecosystem.
• Establish strong partnerships across the company, providing technical leadership and direction in key areas to drive innovation and success.

QUALIFICATIONS

• 2+ years of experience leading Developer Experience or Platform teams
• Deep understanding and passion for developer experience and productivity, with a proven track record of implementing initiatives that empower developers and enhance their workflow.
• 5+ years of experience working with cloud native applications and cloud providers (AWS, GCP, Azure)
• Software development experience in one or more of: Python, Java, Go, C++, Rust, etc.
• Proven experience utilizing DORA, SPACE, and other productivity metrics to drive data-informed decisions, measure progress, and optimize developer experience and efficiency.
• Demonstrated experience in building and developing high-performing engineering teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.
• Experience with driving changes that improve overall productivity and engineering efficiency.
• Possesses exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration and partnership with stakeholders at all levels, from executives to engineers, fostering strong relationships and driving alignment across the organization.
