Title: Engineering Technician - Mechanical
Location: Independence, MO
Salary: $73,644 depending on experience
Schedule: 4-10 hour shifts with overtime as needed. Evening Shift with the Maintenance department.
Focus: As an Engineering Technician - Mechanical you will work under the guidance of engineers to assist in the design, development, testing, and production of mechanical devices and systems.
Engineering Technician - Mechanical Job Functions:
  • Ability to work closely with government, leadership, and engineering staff to make recommendations for improvements and escalate issues as needed.
  • Utilize tools to set up/adjust bullet manufacturing equipment and perform micro-adjustments to machinery.
  • Troubleshoot and correct process issues related to equipment, tooling, and materials.
  • Prepare or make changes to equipment, tooling, and drawings for review with Engineering.
  • Coordinate/assist with the fabrication and repair of equipment, tooling, and systems while adhering to all safety requirements including lockout/tagout and wearing required PPE.
Engineering Technician - Mechanical Minimum Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Five years of mechanical or rotary mechanical experience.
  • Bullet manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Must be able to read and understand blueprints and military specifications.
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods, lift up to 30 pounds and work with energetic materials.
  • Must be multi-tasking, detail-oriented, and able to work independently and in a team environment.
Location-Specific Requirements:
  • Must possess a Valid US driver's license.
  • This position requires successful vetting as an Employee Possessor in accordance with U.S. Department of Justice and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
  • This position requires access to ITAR controlled technical data, and as such, employment will be contingent upon the candidate's ability to access ITAR controlled technical data pursuant to an export license approved by the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls, if required.
  • This position requires successful vetting for unescorted access in accordance with U.S. Army and Department of Defense access policies. The US Government does not allow non-US citizens on-site at the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant. Therefore, to be considered in the hiring process, the candidate must be a US citizen.
