Salary: £150 - £200 Per Annum
Hours: Full Time
Type: Permanent
Job Requirements / Description

This is a remote position.

About the role: You’ll work directly with the founding team to help realize our vision of making a truly fun, engaging educational game that teaches kids how to code, with an emphasis on the fun! We’re a small, scrappy team that all wear multiple hats, so be prepared to do the same.

You’ll own the end-to-end user experience for children playing Kodable. Everything from introducing them to the world of the Fuzzes to giving our games that little extra ‘oomph’ to keep them coming back for more. You’ll be responsible for things like designing the game loops for our game and reward systems, creating core gameplay mechanics, and even designing all new games to help kids create with their programming skills. We’re very collaborative, so interaction with multiple teams within the company will happen regularly.

Who we’re looking for:

  1. You care deeply about programming education.
  2. You have 3+ years experience designing production-level games, with a focus on in-game mechanics and gameplay.
  3. You have experience designing mobile games.
  4. You're confident in your ability to keep players engaged and coming back for more.
  5. You’re a master of finding creative solutions to difficult problems in the constraints of a small team.
  6. You thrive on collaboration; design is an iterative process and the first idea isn’t always the best one.
  7. You are very detail-oriented, but know when taking shortcuts is worth it.
  8. You have a passion for games and love dissecting and studying game mechanics for fun.

Highly preferable if:

  1. You have a working knowledge of the Unity game engine.
  2. You have some experience with computer science.
  3. You have some experience designing games for kids.
  4. You have experience working with startups.
  5. You have experience running focus groups or user-testing sessions.

Bonus Points for:

  1. You’ve shipped an educational game before.
  2. Experience with UI/UX development.
  3. Letting us know why you want to work here! Our founders read every application.
