The role of the Project Engineer (PE) is to assist the Senior Project Manager, Project Manager, Superintendent, and Vice President, Construction. Responsible for drawing issuance, submittals, compilation of bidding documents, sketch book, RFI logs, LEED program, and Quality Assurance program through our Construction Management software (Procore). This position may also be requested to assist with other tasks such as build out of construction offices, safety program, and other responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements:
Drawing Management
- Track drawing issuances through Procore.
- Organize and maintain updated sets as well as file electronic “Retired” drawing sets.
- Coordinate and maintain in-office drawing distribution through Procore.
- Maintain Exhibit D – Documents List.
- Coordinate consultant and subcontractor drawing distribution.
- Distribute updated drawings to all trades on Procore, along with Change Event Letter.
- Obtain electronic “stamped” full permit set.
- Provide printed copy of permit set to field trailer.
- Compile and file “Record” and “As Built” sets from subcontractors and maintain electronic files for permanent storage.
- Keep folders on server neat and organized.
Submittal Process
- Initial setup of submittal log, i.e., proper distribution path, number of copies/submittals required (to be done with assistance of PM or APM) and required completion dates.
- Communicate and coordinate submittal process with subcontractors through Procore.
- Maintain submittal log in Procore.
- Follow up on outstanding submittal items on Procore.
- Perform complete in-house review with PM’s assistance as needed for Focus mark-ups prior to initiation of consultant review process, or simultaneously if required by schedule.
- Distribute submittals in accordance with established distribution path.
- Manage submittals once the review process has been initiated.
- Review final log-in and distribution, in accordance with established distribution path, of submittals that have gone through full review process.
Bidding Phase
- Projects that were similar in scope should be used as templates and modified with the assistance of the project manager to accurately reflect the current project.

Exhibit E – Schedule of Values (PM)
- Assist in compilation of bid contracts, i.e., creation of transmittals as well as physical compilation.
- Ordering of drawings from printer/upload plans to Procore – as well as coordinating transmittals to accompany bid packages and distribution addresses, coordinate with project coordinator.
- File compilation of bid contracts on server in organized manner.
- Compilation of a project bidders list with estimating department, the construction bluebook, and the Focus bidder database, etc.
- Assist with contacting and qualifying bidders. Revise initial list and update final bidders list in budget prior to the start of bidding.
- Scope and award smaller trades i.e. – Division 10 & 12 trades (with the assistance of PM).
Sketch Log
- Set up project Sketch Log.
- Receive and log-in Sketches from outside sources.
- Log-in and distribute Focus created sketches.
Requests for Information (RFI’s)
- Set up project RFI Log.
- Receive informal Requests for Information.
- Create Focus RFI in Procore.
- Log-In and distribute Focus RFI in Procore.
- Track created RFI’s and perform weekly follow-up on outstanding RFI’s.
- Distribute to necessary parties once RFI is answered.
Close-Out
- On certain projects, assist Project Manager in compilation of retail build out pricing.
- Assist in the build out processes of the construction office.
- Collection and electronic distribution of operations manuals, warranty, and as-built drawings from subcontractors prior to final completion and payouts.
- Assist in punchlist compilation, management, and completion.
Skills Required:
- 4-year degree in Engineering, Construction Management or Architectural Studies or equivalent experience.
- 0-3 years’ experience.
- A strong interest in multi-family and/or commercial construction.
- Self-motivated and confident.
- Well organized and detail-oriented.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Solid written and communication skills.
- Proficient in Procore or similar construction management software.
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position, often sitting, for prolonged periods.
- Must be able to communicate with others to exchange information.
- Occasionally repeating motions, often typing, that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
- Occasionally move to accomplish tasks or moving from one jobsite to another.
- Specific vision abilities required, including close vision, distance vision and depth perception.
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds; occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
Other Requirements:
Minimal travel required. Employee must have a vehicle and possess a valid driver’s license with insurance coverage.
