Job Description

LaBella is looking for a Civil Engineer who both wants to advance both personally and professionally while finding solutions to complex site issues in the Richmond, VA office. Our Land Development and Renewable Energy teams are looking for a creative individual who desires collaborating on projects from project master planning through final construction close out. Working in a fast-paced environment and creating relationships, both with our internal teams as well as with our client partners, are key functions of the daily responsibilities. The individual is subject to working on a variety of project types, including residential complexes, commercial developments, industrial facilities, renewable energy power plants, athletic field design, education improvements, and more.

Duties

  • Assist a Project Manager/Engineer with site design and CAD drafting and modeling.
  • Perform site visits and weekly stormwater inspections.
  • Produce effective and high-quality project documents, including reports, drawings, and specifications.
  • Assist with construction administration services.
  • Perform detailed hydrologic calculations and prepare Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans, complete Virginia Runoff Reduction Method (VRRM) Calculations and complete Virginia Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (VPDES) applications for Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (VA-DEQ) submittals.
  • Research and interpret municipal code for the development of concept plans and site plans.
  • Perform grading analyses and draft grading plans essential to the development of and in coordination with erosion and sediment control plans. 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering
  • 1-5 years of experience
  • Registered as an EIT and on track to become a PE is preferred.
  • Experience with AutoCAD/Civil 3D
  • Ability to design in a team environment working on multi-disciplinary jobs.
  • Effective communication skills using oral, graphic, and written forms.
  • Ability to manage workload and budgets as allocated.
  • Experience with HydroCAD or other hydrologic modeling software.
  • Ability to travel to job sites as needed.
