Software Engineer

POSITION LOCATION: Dallas, TX (must currently reside there)

Position Overview

The Software Engineer role within e2open is an entry level position within the Development team, creating and updating programs to meet the needs of our customers. Using a variety of software languages, tools and techniques, the Software Engineer delivers high quality products according to the specifications outlined by Product Management according to the standards set across the company.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Technology

  1. Apply a basic knowledge of programming languages for software development
  2. Demonstrate a basic knowledge of database structures, queries, and performance
  3. Exhibit a basic familiarity of complex data structures, transformations, derivations, serialization, queuing theory, message handling, buffer management, threading, and other similar software constructs
  4. Understand the use of Open Source including licensing models, constraints, and proper incorporation
  5. Show experience with User Interface/Experience design, testing, constraints, validation, technologies
  6. Implement API design with security, backwards compatibility, validation, error handling
  7. Practice interface security, data encryption, ethical hacking, and denial of service attack prevention
  8. Employ a basic understanding of operating system, file system, virtual machine management, maintenance, and performance management
  9. Exercise software build technologies including source control, build and branching, automation

Development

  1. Demonstrate the ability to cross train and learn new technologies
  2. Design, implement and test enhancement feature requests to enhance product functionality as needed with minimal risk to existing product stability, reliability, and performance
  3. Create unit tests and proactively validate all developed software
  4. Contribute to design decisions on new features
  5. Troubleshoot defects independently and cooperatively
  6. Work with and assist other departments with any technical issues that arise
  7. Follow best practices for security guidelines internally and in developed software
  8. Implement product ‘stories’ to create software exceeding customer needs
  9. Maintain existing components to improve performance and enhance functionality without regression

Support

  1. Work with support engineers, professional services, and sales engineers to investigate and handle customer and field escalated cases.
  2. Coordinate, respond, track and follow-up on customer problem reports/technical support requests
  3. Conduct technical investigation of product defects raised by customers or other groups like QA or Support
  4. Periodically monitor production or other critical systems for signs of potential problems
  5. Strong customer service and teamwork skills
  6. Suggest improvements to monitoring, system reliability or other factors impacting customer platforms
  7. Craft sound technical plan of action for resolution of complex problems and execute them
  8. Proactively eliminate unnecessary or invalid support requests
  9. Identify root cause for any errors detected

  1. Follow processes, guidelines, procedures, and best practices defined by senior staff and management.
  2. Work with members in the organization across various time zones.
  3. Switch between multiple tasks based on dynamic priorities.
  4. Review security and data segregation models
  5. Knowledge of overall development lifecycle, processes, and process improvement

Technical Qualifications:

This section will detail the specific skills and experience required for the position. This may include and not be limited to software development languages (Java, Ruby on Rails, React/Redux…), tool experience (Drools, Jasper reports, Spring…), database technologies (relational, graph, SQL…) or other skillsets needed for the specific requisition and team requirements. These will change for each job opening.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. General office environment and responsibilities requiring:
  2. Extensive use of computers involving viewing a monitor and keyboarding most of the workday
  3. Placing, receiving and participating in conference calls
  4. Occasionally moving and lifting objects up to 20 pounds
  5. May require 10% travel or more if needed
