Role Overview:
The Chief Engineer is responsible for leading a team to maintain all equipment, systems, and building components, including but not limited to mechanical and electrical systems, pumps, HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, locks, furniture, paint, wall coverings, tile, and information technology. This role also serves as the liaison between the facility and service contractors for on-property needs, working closely with the General Manager and Director of Operations to ensure seamless operations.
The Chief Engineer oversees the maintenance of equipment in guest rooms and restaurants, conducts monthly safety inspections, trains staff on safety and emergency procedures, and coordinates with vendors. This role requires the ability to respond to emergencies and collaborate with corporate maintenance teams on special projects or capital expenditure needs.
In critical situations, the Chief Engineer must be available at unconventional hours to manage emergencies or property malfunctions affecting guests and staff.

This role requires a hands-on approach, with a readiness to support other departments as needed.
Qualifications:
- Proven passion for coaching and leading hotel teams to achieve success.
- Experience in hotels with at least 100 rooms, including properties with restaurants or serviced residences, is preferred due to the operational complexity.
- Minimum of 5 years in a senior role within a hotel engineering department, with experience leading a team of engineering associates.
- Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.
- Comprehensive knowledge of mechanical equipment, including chillers, boilers, refrigeration systems, plumbing, electrical systems, and the maintenance of records related to power, water, and fuel consumption, along with familiarity with city codes and OSHA regulations.
