This position is based at Peterbilt’s Engineering Administration Building next to our Manufacturing Plant in Denton, Texas.

Requisition Summary

Job Functions / Responsibilities

  • Mentor systems engineers in the principles of reliability engineering, reliability growth, reliability modeling and reliability prediction.
  • Collaborate with system owners to set top-down reliability and durability targets starting from systems to sub-systems to parts for new vehicles.
  • Coordinate with internal and external test and simulation resources to obtain validation of test/analytical results to monitor reliability growth.
  • Teach reliability training classes and facilitate FMEA, DVP, and Control Plan creation.
  • Analyze and compare field failures with FMEAs and DVP&R's to find improvement opportunities.
  • Calculate Reliability Performance for newly released products and programs.
  • Deliver Weibull analysis reports with clear recommendations and proposals to engineering teams for improvements.
  • Present plans for reliability improvements for systems and components to management for approval.
  • Provide technical leadership in the creation of a roadmap for vehicle reliability and durability to support new product development.
  • Less than 10% travel to be expected.
  • BS in Engineering or related field required; MS in Reliability Engineering is preferred.
  • Experience with statistical analysis software, such as Minitab required.
  • Experience with reliability analysis software WRR (Windchill Risk and Reliability suite) preferred.
  • Experience with CAD software: Creo and Windchill preferred.
  • Able to learn, administer and facilitate FMEAs, DVPs and Control Plans.
  • Experience with using DFSS tools; DFSS Belt training or certification is preferred.
  • Solid understanding of mechanical systems in motor vehicles, mechatronic systems analysis, engines, and software impacts.
  • Ability and desire to learn new tools and stay updated with the latest technological advancements in the industry.
  • Independence while building cooperation among individuals and departments, sharing information and resources, and working to achieve goals.
  • Effective analysis and project management skills.
  • Effective communication, presentation, and technical writing skills.
  • Demonstrate initiative, flexibility, the ability to manage workloads, and the willingness to respond to shifting timelines and project demands.
