Your Opportunity

We are excited to consider a remote candidate for this role. The Multi Cloud Adoption Team (MCAT) at New Relic builds the platforms, products, and foundational services for secure, automated, reliable, and dynamic ingestion and processing of telemetry data. We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to help expand New Relic's observability platform to GCP, Azure, and AWS, at the scale of ingesting over 2 billion events per minute.

You will work on a team that will pave the way for the right tooling and standards across multi-cloud environments and empower our engineering teams to deliver exciting digital experiences for our customers with agility and confidence.

You are an engineer with a passion for working hands-on with cloud technologies in a large-scale environment. You enjoy collaborating, communicating, and technical writing with other engineers.

What You'll Do

  • Work with a team of engineers to design, implement and manage secure, scalable and reliable cloud infrastructure.
  • Drive the design/architecture of our Infrastructure and developer platform to support multiple cloud providers.
  • Establish standards and reference architectures, guiding teams to have their services running on all three cloud platforms - GCP, Azure, AWS.
  • Deliver high-quality production code - Robust error handling, code must make efficient use of system resources, and trade-offs between efficiency and maintainability are well understood.
  • Research and create short-lived proofs of concept to evaluate and reduce the risk of new technologies.
  • Regularly collaborate with PMs, technical leaders, and other stakeholders to clarify project requirements and execute cross-team initiatives.
  • Contribute to large cross-team projects.

This Role Requires

  • 3+ years hands-on experience in implementing and/or maintaining highly complex cloud environments in one or more of the cloud platforms - GCP, Azure, AWS.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of software experience in cloud environments.
  • Experience driving software engineering practices through good software design, clean and secure code, code reviews, unit tests, CI/CD pipeline, operational efficiency, and using data to drive decisions.
  • Demonstrated hands-on expertise in many disparate technologies, typically ranging from front-end user interfaces through to back-end software systems, infrastructure and all points in between.
  • Experience in SOLID design practices, design patterns, including object-oriented design and OOP.
  • Strong understanding of cloud computing and hands-on experience of migrating/operating workloads in AWS, Azure, and GCP.
  • Experience with one or more of AWS, Azure, GCP around Compute, Storage, and essential Networking technologies and Pub/Sub model.
  • Experience with Kubernetes or AKS or EKS or GKE cluster deployment and support.
  • Experience automating with infrastructure as code tools (Terraform) and integrating systems using a high-level language (Go, Python).
  • Experience working on cross-team projects with the ability to identify risks and weigh trade-offs.
  • Strong self-starter attitude that enjoys collaborating, listening, and communication that encourages different perspectives and creative solutions.
