Job Requirements / Description

Responsibilities:

  1. Help build and design the next generation of architecture for Zoom’s core services.
  2. Perform large scale software application configuration and deployment for core services powering Zoom video conference.
  3. Capacity planning and scaling services across the globe.
  4. Develop tools to automate and improve production support tasks; SRE monitoring for critical systems.
  5. Implement advanced DevOps technologies and best practices to refine our global deployment infrastructure with goals to improve deployment velocity and reliability.
  6. Collaborate with other functional teams: R&D, Security, Data team to ensure production services reliability and availability.
  7. Provide production escalation support.
  8. Required to provide on-call service coverage with other department employees.

Requirements:

  1. 10+ years of relevant experience + degree.
  2. Strong scripting and programming language experience: Python, Go, C++.
  3. Expertise in shell scripting, Linux command line utilities.
  4. MVC Web Application Framework such as Django, Flask, and template engines: e.g., Jinja2.
  5. Advanced knowledge of container technology and orchestration tools: Docker, Kubernetes.
  6. Proven track record of delivering on large projects that cross team boundaries.
  7. Experience with automating the build process of complex production software systems.
  8. Configuration management tools: Ansible, Chef, Puppet, Salt.
  9. Experience working with CI/CD and Infrastructure-as-Code tools: Jenkins, Terraform, CloudFormation.
  10. Knowledge of Application Integration technologies using message brokers, distributed task queues.
  11. In-depth knowledge of network stack and application networking.
  12. Solid troubleshooting experience within a large scale production environment.
  13. Git and related source code management tools and practices.
  14. Excellent communication skills, organization skills, attention to detail, ability to independently prioritize tasks.

Nice to Have:

  1. Experience with C++ performance profiling in a containerized environment.
  2. Experience with building and maintaining monitoring systems for large scale production systems.
  3. Prior experience as Linux Admin or Linux Systems Engineer for large scale infrastructure.
  4. Experience with video conference technologies.
  5. Experience with Linux Kernel and application security.
  6. In-depth experience with AWS EC2, VPC, EBS, S3.
  7. Experience with AWS CloudWatch, Route 53, KMS, DynamoDB, IAM.
  8. Experience with virtualization, such as VMware, KVM, Xen.
  9. Experience with mentoring junior Engineers.

Salary Range or On Target Earnings:

Minimum: $118,600.00

Maximum: $259,500.00

In addition to the base salary and/or OTE listed, Zoom has a Total Direct Compensation philosophy that takes into consideration base salary, bonus, and equity value.

Note: Starting pay will be based on a number of factors and commensurate with qualifications & experience.

We also have a location-based compensation structure; there may be a different range for candidates in this and other locations.
