Position Title: Senior/Lead Battery Storage Systems Engineer
Location: San Diego
Type: FTE
Job Purpose:
Leads the development of battery storage systems components and integration. Supports the application of advanced battery management systems deployment.
Main Responsibilities and Key Activities
- As a system-level expert in battery systems, lead the team in the application, design, development, and testing of battery management system (Client) software and surrounding systems for energy storage and power applications.
- Develop and implement the product planning and technical roadmap for the Client and related power electronics platforms based on the company's overall product technology strategy.
- Collaborate with other relevant engineers from the hardware and technology departments to evaluate and select the optimal chips and key components to build the most competitive Client platform.
- Research battery system requirements and the solutions of major competitors to formulate the most competitive Client technical proposal.
- Responsible for resolving technical issues related to the interfaces and system coupling of the Client system and platform.
- Stay informed about the dynamics of the competitive product environment and collaborate with the product strategy department to define development blueprints and plans, ensuring client's technical competitiveness. Be an expert in Client and its related applications.
- Lead the team to explore new business areas and the development of peripherals hardware/software from concept to prototype evaluation.
- Define and implement Client and power electronics platform and roadmaps according to the company overall strategy.
- Investigate the requirements on battery systems and competitive landscape, understand the competitive solutions from the major competitors then generate the competitive Client solutions.
- In charge of solving the system issues in the overall battery back system integration.
- Keep up with the market trends and competition environment, work with Products strategy departments to define the development strategy of the company and keep the core technology competence of client.
Qualification Requirements (Education, Qualifications and Experience):
- Bachelor's degree, major in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Electronic and Information Engineering or related.
- Proficient in English and Chinese.
- At least 8 years of experience in real-time embedded software development.
- Client related products development experience will be a plus.
- Expert in at least one lower layer real-time software, such as C, C++, etc.
- Very skillful in software/firmware debugging and familiar with all major debugging tools and systems, especially ARM architecture.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the critical issues in typical real-time embedded systems, boot sequence, and interrupt handling.
- Strong analytical and practical aptitude with the ability for fast prototyping and architecting a system solution.
- Fully understand the system-level development process and have the capability to translate customer needs or high-level concepts into design requirements of both hardware and software.
- Familiar with international regulations and standards of the battery industry, and the Client trends.
- Good team worker, logical thinker, and efficient communication skills; able to use English as the working language.
- Able to thrive in a multi-disciplined, fast-paced dynamic, and global collaborative environment.
