At SEL, we create digital products and solutions that protect, control, and automate power systems around the world. The devices we make at SEL are embedded in the power grid. They prevent blackouts. They make outages safer and shorter in duration; they add cybersecurity, automation, and communication. They use cutting-edge technologies and operate at speeds that push other pieces of the grid to go faster.
As a Software Engineer in the Automation Department of R&D, you’ll work on innovative software systems for critical infrastructure that support everyday life, from critical, life-saving operations to everyday tasks, like flipping a light switch.
Responsibilities:
- Working with Application and User Experience engineers to discuss user scenarios and use cases leading to exciting new software solutions.
- Design, develop, test, release, and maintain new product features; working with the full stack, from microservices implemented with C++ or Go, to beautiful and responsive web frontends implemented with React.
- Design and deploy applications to Kubernetes running on SEL’s ruggedized computers or in virtualized environments.
- Employ threat modeling, static analysis, vulnerability scanning, fuzz testing, and other methods to ensure the products being developed meet the highest standards for quality and security.
- Maintain continuous integration pipelines to continuously and automatically build and test new product features as part of an Agile development process.
This job might be for you if:
- You are interested in full stack development using Kubernetes, Docker, C++, Go, and React.
- You want to take ownership of the development and testing of new products from conception to product release and maintenance.
- You enjoy working on small collaborative teams in an agile environment.
- You are passionate about creating reliable and secure solutions of the highest quality for the automation, monitoring, and control of critical infrastructure.
