At Amazon Advertising, we are developing state-of-the-art large-scale advertising and real-time feedback based control application. The Budgeting and Pacing team develops systems that control Ad spend in real-time to adhere to the goals and constraints set by advertisers. Our systems process billions of ad impressions daily from across the internet to power our display advertising algorithms. Our engineers work with machine learning scientists, economists, and product managers on high impact initiatives for Amazon’s Display Advertising.

A Software Development Engineer (SDE) will partner with other engineers, scientists, TPMs, Product Managers to help create world-class solutions. We're looking for people who are passionate about innovating on behalf of customers, demonstrate a high degree of ownership, and want to have fun while they make history. The ideal SDE has strong ownership and customer obsession, great partnership working style with deep diving skills, and an expeditious drive to deliver results. This opportunity requires deep technical, problem-solving and communication skills.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  1. Translate functional requirements into robust, scalable, supportable solutions that work well within the overall system architecture.
  2. Develop features and solutions that span the full advertising stack, UX, API, Ad serving, ML modeling, and Targeting.
  3. Evaluate and make decisions about the use of new or existing software products and tools.
  4. Apply big data technologies (Spark, PySpark, Hadoop, MapReduce, etc).
  5. Have unique exposure to technologies used in Display / advertising / E-commerce platforms.
  6. Work closely with our data-science and product managers to design experiments with machine learning / deep learning techniques to improve predictive models and infrastructure and implement end-to-end solutions.
  7. Establish the best processes and drive improvements in design, development and operations.
  8. Mentor and guide junior engineers on design, coding, troubleshooting and operational excellence.
  9. Be a member of the Amazon-wide Software Development Community, participating in internal and external MeetUps, Hackathons and Conferences.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  1. 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
  2. 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience.
  3. Experience programming with at least one software programming language.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  1. 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience.
  2. Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
