We're looking for a talented and motivated Robotics and Machine Controls Engineer to join our growing team and help us deliver cutting-edge solutions to our customers.

Position Summary: The Robotics and Machine Controls Engineer will be responsible for the design, development, programming, and implementation of robotic and machine control systems. The successful candidate will work closely with a cross-functional team to design automated systems that meet client specifications and industry standards. The role requires a mix of creativity, technical expertise, and hands-on experience with robotic systems and motion control platforms.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and Development:
    • Design robotic and motion control systems to automate manufacturing and production manufacturing processes.
    • Create electrical and motion control strategies supporting mechanical designs for custom automation equipment.
    • Develop control systems, layouts, flowcharts, and detailed control designs.
    • Create training manuals and conduct training of customer personnel on machine operation.
  • Programming and Implementation:
    • Program robots and multi axis motion control systems using appropriate software (Robot and motion controller, PLC, HMI, and Servo systems).
    • Develop and integrate motion control algorithms, configure and train vision systems, and system feedback control and safety architecture.
    • Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize control systems during the design and testing phases.
    • Enable and collaborate with plant systems for data integration using various communication protocols.
  • Project Collaboration, System Testing and Support:
    • Create and / or review FAT / SAT documentation.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, controls engineers, and project managers) to ensure project success.
    • Participate in the installation, commissioning, and testing of automation systems at customer sites.
    • Provide ongoing technical support to customers and help with troubleshooting post-installation issues.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Stay updated on emerging technologies and industry trends in robotics, motion control, and safety.
    • Identify opportunities for system improvements and develop innovative solutions for clients.
  • Compliance and Safety :
    • Ensure designs meet safety, performance, and regulatory standards (e.g., UL, CE, OSHA, SIL, and PLX).
    • Document all processes, designs, and system implementations according to company standards.

Qualifications:

  • Preferred education is a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in robotics, motion control, or automation systems.
  • Strong knowledge of industrial robotics (Multi axis control and articulated arms), PLC programming, HMI, servo motors, VFDs, and other control systems.
  • Experience with systems such as Kuka, Fanuc (Roboguide), Yaskawa (Motoman), ABB and/or other robot programming languages.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Rockwell FactoryTalk software, and Rockwell Studio 5000.
  • Experience with vision systems such as Cognex and Keyence
  • Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with a focus on delivering high-quality solutions.
  • Willingness to travel for system installation, testing, and client support. (roughly 30%)

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, walk, and move around a shop or client site for extended periods.
  • Capability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds of equipment or tools.
  • Willingness to work in a range of environments, including industrial and manufacturing facilities.
