Job Description:

During your Co-Op term, you will not just be an observer. You will be an active participant in our mission. You will collaborate with our dedicated product teams, gaining onsite and in-office exposure. You will assist teams with standardization, installation, startup, and commissioning processes. At BW Papersystems, we are committed to providing you with the essential experience needed to understand the responsibilities of a Full-Time engineer, and how Industrial Automation is ingeniously applied in the Corrugating and Paper Sheeting industry.

Term: June 2025 - December 2025

Key Co-Op Responsibilities:

  • Supporting BW Papersystems Project Teams
  • Creating Process & Equipment work instructions with design engineering and operations input.
  • Help resolve quality issues within Manufacturing Operations using problem solving techniques.
  • Participating in Lean and Optimization initiatives to reduce waste
  • Creating fixtures to facilitate an efficient and safe operation
  • Collaborating on Manufacturing Engineering Designs if required
  • May create visual standard work and process mechanical design using Solid Works
  • Perform various other similar or associated duties as assigned or directed.

Work Environment:

  • Works under the mentorship of a Manufacturing Engineer but reports to OpEx Leader
  • All safety regulations must be observed.
  • This position works in an indoor environment including office and operations areas.
  • May be exposed to some shop conditions, but not continuously to the extent of being disagreeable.
  • This is an onsite job. A regular full-time work week while in the Co-Op role may require extended hours and days needed to meet business needs.

Physical Demands:

  • The employee may be required to stand, sit, climb, or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee may lift and/or move up to fifty pounds unassisted and greater than fifty pounds with assistance. Mental and visual attention is necessary to perform various duties requiring alertness and activity.

Education / Competency Requirements:

  • Working towards a Bachelor of Science degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or an equivalent technical field
  • 2+ years of coursework in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related technical schooling
  • Good Experience with MS Office suite of tools
  • Basic understanding of Solid Works and strong computer skills.
  • Strong communicator with excellent interpersonal skills, able to collaborate closely with teams to standardize and document work processes.
  • Self-motivated and results-focused problem solver with strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Adaptable and thrives in a metrics-driven, performance-based environment, with the ability to multi-task effectively.
