Inviting applications for the role of Consultant – Firewall Engineer

The Firewall Engineer's primary role is to build, implement, maintain, and support firewalls and other network security devices. The Firewall Engineer works with team members and system support personnel with issues related to connectivity and policy administration.

Responsibilities:

1. Assess firewall policies to identify issues such as overly permissive, shadow, and unused rules.
2. Provide input on the risk of identified issues to drive triage and prioritization.
3. Assist in reorganizing firewall security policy to better achieve GoDaddy’s network security goals and align with industry best practices.
4. Regularly audit firewall configuration against approved security policy to detect non-compliance.
5. Analyze firewall logs to identify potential threats and malicious activity.
6. Execute firewall changes in accordance with GoDaddy’s change management policy.
7. Assist in ongoing maintenance and monitoring of firewall health, including patch and vulnerability management.
8. Assist in generating the configuration for the firewall using automation.

Stakeholder Management:

1. Identify and engage with project stakeholders, including senior management.
2. Maintain regular communication with stakeholders to ensure alignment with client's goals and objectives.
3. Identify areas for process and technology improvements in the Network security domain.
4. Implement lessons learned from past incidents and projects.

Qualifications we seek in you!

Minimum Qualifications / Skills:

1. Bachelor's Degree required. Preferably in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
2. Progressive years of firewall operations experience, including deploying, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting Next-Generation Firewalls (NGFW).
3. Must be expert in Juniper SRX firewalls.
4. Must have Juniper Security Director (JSD) experience.
5. Must have Tufin experience.
6. Palo Alto and Cisco firewall experience is preferred.
7. Must have Linux experience.
8. Python experience is preferred.
9. Must be familiar with git, Jenkins and scripting.

Preferred Qualifications/ Skills:

1. Strong leader with a desire to educate and develop good young talent within the team.
2. Solid process skills with an understanding of change control processes and managing critical production environments.
3. Strong inter-personal, analytical thinking, presentation and communication skills essential.
4. Ability to work in a global team environment.
