DNV Energy Systems is seeking a consultant- Process Engineer to join our Hydrogen and low-carbon fuels team. In this role, you will work with a group of process engineers, supporting other colleagues in identifying customizable solutions to clients' challenges in their energy transition endeavors. Your contributions will help maintain DNV's know-how around hydrogen as a fuel and feed to other processes. This know-how will readily respond to clients' requests in a fast-paced environment.


DNV - Energy Systems - Hydrogen & Low Carbon Fuel aspires to become the preferred business partner to support customers in mitigating their risks by providing high-quality due diligence studies focusing on green hydrogen production and its integration to a supply chain or the production of derivatives such as ammonia, methanol or synthetic fuels. Among the challenges that a process engineer in the team will be facing are process modeling of several scales of a facility depending on the customer's requirements and the preparation of Front-end Loading (FEL) documents from the identification of the opportunity (FEL 0) to Select (FEL 2).


This role is based at our DNV office in Seattle, WA, and the Houston, TX office, presenting a dynamic hybrid schedule where employees will typically spend three (3) days per week working from either a DNV office or client location/site. Further details regarding role-specific requirements will be shared during the interview process.


What You'll Do


  1. Produce or update competitive intelligence reports following literature reviews to identify the latest technology developments and technology readiness levels of relevant technologies.
  2. Support colleagues with preparing a benchmarking of Levelized Costs of Hydrogen-derived products corresponding to several scales and technologies.
  3. Perform technical due diligence on processes for producing and using hydrogen, including processes to make hydrogen-derived products such as methanol, ammonia, and synthetic fuels.
  4. Being able to scale down processes and their corresponding cost estimates matching customers' interests work in designing and optimizing production processes of different scales.
  5. Leverage a deep understanding of low-carbon fuel technologies and process modeling to predict and deliver scenarios supporting the customer's strategic decision-making process.
  6. Develop, lead, and coordinate mass and energy balance methodologies to assess end-use applications' technical and economic impacts.
  7. Contribute to the know-how building and knowledge management of the Process Engineering team.
  8. Support business development through participation in the preparation of proposals.
