Director of Highway Engineering
Our client, an ENR Top 125 Design Firm, is seeking an experienced highway engineering leader with a passion and desire to build and lead a newly formed group. This is a critical role and will report directly to a Sr. Vice President who sits on the company Board of Directors.
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Director of Highway Engineering to build and lead a team of project managers, engineers and design staff in Florida. The Director of Highway Engineering will be responsible for managing the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of large scale FDOT highway projects within the region. This is a senior leadership role that requires a strong understanding of civil engineering principles and a proven track record of success in highway engineering.
As the Director of Highway Engineering, you will be responsible for overseeing the development of new highways and bridges, as well as the rehabilitation and maintenance of existing infrastructure. You will be responsible for developing relationships and winning work from FDOT and other transportation agencies, managing a large team of engineers, technicians and consultants, providing guidance and mentorship to ensure that all projects are completed on time and within budget.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in highway engineering, including at least 3 years in a leadership role
- Registered Professional Engineer (PE)
- Strong understanding of the latest engineering techniques and technologies
- Strong project management skills
- Experience working with government agencies (i.e. Florida Department of Transportation)
- Experience leading teams at least as a Sr. Project Manager
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
