Job Title: Software Test Engineer
Location: Redmond, WA (Hybrid)
Duration: 6+ Months
JOB DESCRIPTION:
• Candidate Location Requirements: 99% percent remote, Need to be local to come onsite once every 3 months, Studio C
• If hybrid, # of days contractor will be required to work onsite:
• Daily Schedule & OT estimate: M-F 40 hours a week, standard core hours
• Chance for Extension (Y/N): Yes, aiming for 18 months
• Equipment or Software Required: Supplier to provide laptop, mouse, and headset.

TYPICAL DAY IN THE ROLE
• Purpose of the Team: The team is to create security alerts for suspicious activity from malicious or insider threat, and monitoring for IT infrastructure help.
• Key projects: Candidate will be reviewing software and hardware for bugs and misconfigurations and compliance.
• Typical task breakdown and operating rhythm: The role will consist of 10% reviewing and prioritizing tickets/sending out communication/updating customers, 20% writing new tests, 70% running tests that are already created, using tools, and examining the results of tests.
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
• Years of Experience Required: 8-10 years of work-related experience
• Degrees or certifications required: No specific degree is required for this role.
• Disqualifiers: Candidates that showcase less than 18 months on access clock will not be eligible for the role.
• Best vs. Average: The ideal resume would contain Experience testing software, Experience writing test documentation such as Test Plans, scripts and test results reports, Ability to analyze/interpret test results and provide recommendations to improve testing.
• Performance Indicators: Performance will be assessed based on quality of work.
TOP 3 HARD SKILLS REQUIRED + YEARS OF EXPERIENCE
1. Minimum 2+ years of Experience with Fiddler, Wireshark and network monitoring tools.
2. Minimum 2+ year’s Experience reviewing security context of windows software.
4. Minimum 2+ years of experience with Python, PowerShell, Git, Sysinternals.

SUMMARY:
The main function of a Software Test Engineer is to develop, implement, and document all testing activities, including test planning, test documentation, test execution, defect tracking and reporting, including follow-up and issue resolution.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Experience with windows registry
Experience with sandbox security technologies and Hyper-V

Experience with pcap and ncap tooling.
Ability to analyze packet captures and their implications in a secure network.
Ability to write and update scripts.
Familiarity with Git and development tooling.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Associate's degree in a technical field such as computer science, computer engineering or related field required
• 8-10 year’s experience required
