Role Overview:

We are seeking Mechanical Technicians to transform legacy freight rail cars into electrified, self-driving vehicles. This role is critical to our collaborative Build & Integration team, with a strong hands-on technical focus. You will participate in multi-disciplinary efforts involving systems build, integration, and troubleshooting, as a key contributor to product deployment and support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Mechanical Build: Cutting, welding, brazing, and general fabrication work per mechanical, computer-aided designs (CAD) and verbal instructions - on new and modified hardware.
  • Mechanical Integration: Assembly of mechanical platforms, frames, and custom enclosures to support integrated systems installations, such as pneumatics, hydraulics, drivetrains, high and low voltage power, cooling, sensors, and controls
  • Problem-Solving: Inspecting, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical assemblies as needed to ensure high-quality and reliable integrated solutions
  • Lifecycle Support: Address and resolve issues related to fielded systems, providing comprehensive support throughout the product lifecycle. Perform preventative maintenance on equipment.

About You:

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Technical Associates Degree in applicable field, or equivalent experience
  • Experience with reading mechanical drawings (e.g., hydraulics, pneumatics)
  • Experience with troubleshooting mechanical breakdowns (pinpointing and fixing breakdowns)
  • Experience with product manuals (e.g., reading and applying knowledge to make repairs)
  • Able to perform occasional heavy lifting, pulling, pushing, stooping, climbing, reaching, bending and working in awkward positions
  • Willingness to expand into technical areas beyond your area of expertise
  • Open-minded and comfortable working in a teaming environment, as an individual contributor, and as a conscientious teammate
  • Fluent in both written and verbal English

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience in directly applicable industry or projects, such as Rail, Electric Vehicles, or Unmanned Systems
  • Proficient welding skills
  • An understanding of ISO Quality systems, and adherence to ISO 9001:2015
