You will join our client who is the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contractor for a Nuclear Power Project.


The Electrical Designer will be responsible for raceway design, equipment location and layout, and C&R schedule inputting and updating using Setroute.


This role will be based in Reston, VA, with periodic business travel to Poland offices and sites as required. Upon initial hire and onboarding, the position will require full time presence in the Reston, Virginia project office.


This role involves producing drawings and documentation according to established design and scope, including cable pull calculations, lighting design using AGi32, grounding layout and calculations, and lightning protection systems.


The Electrical Designer will also develop specifications for equipment and materials that deviate from standard documentation.


Key Responsibilities:

· Electrical physical design, including circuit and raceway.

· Design and layout of raceways, equipment locations, and aboveground raceways.

· Input and update C&R schedules using Setroute.

· Produce drawings and documentation per established design and scope, including lighting, communications, grounding layout, grounding calculations, and lightning protection systems.

· Operate independently with creative design capabilities using industry concepts and procedures.

· Demonstrate proficiency in 2D and 3D CADD.

· Utilize electronic Cable Management Systems like SETROUTE for input and corrections.

· Ensure electrical systems designs comply with applicable codes, regulations, and standards; interface with construction and subcontractors as needed.

· Communicate and collaborate effectively with team members and other disciplines.

· Utilize computer programs, including the Microsoft Windows suite.

· Manage conflicting deadlines, frequent interruptions, and multiple tasks efficiently.


Qualifications and Skills:


Basic Qualifications:

· AA/AS degree with 3 years of related design experience, or high school diploma/equivalent with a minimum of 7 years of related design experience (preferred)

· US Citizenship is required.

· Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.


Minimum Qualifications:

· Experience in Nuclear, Quality, and Safety environments.

· Experience in nuclear plant design (power plant or DOE facility).

· Familiarity with quality assurance programs such as ASME-NQA-1, MIL-Q-9858A, or ISO-9000.

· Knowledge of industry and regulatory guides, codes, and standards.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other computer programs.

· Knowledge of local/Polish and European codes and standards.

· Extensive knowledge of NEC code and ANSI/IEEE Standards.

· In-depth knowledge of electrical raceway and equipment layouts.

· Proficiency with industry-wide design tools, including CAD 2D/3D, cable design, and routing software.

· Strong oral and written communication skills.


Preferred Qualifications:

· Hands-on experience with the SETROUTE program.

· Knowledge of Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs) and their application to projects.

· Experience with Revit and SmartPlant 3D design tools.

· Knowledge of Standard Application Programs (BSAPS).

· Experience with construction interface and field problem resolution.

· Experience with Nuclear Power Plant Design desirable.
