The Director, Supply Chain Engineering & Enabling Functions at Roche's Global Distribution Hub in Indianapolis is a critical leadership role within the Global Supply Chain team. This position is responsible for overseeing the technical support, maintenance, packaging, engineering & innovation, as well as functional training and quality teams for Hub Operations Americas. The incumbent will lead a team of highly capable team members, including leaders and is responsible for providing guidance, support, and strategic direction to ensure operational excellence and continuous improvement.

The Opportunity

  • Technical Support: Provide leadership and guidance to the technical support team, ensuring effective troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of equipment to minimize downtime and optimize productivity.
  • Maintenance: Develop and implement maintenance strategies to ensure the smooth operation of equipment and infrastructure, including preventive maintenance programs and adherence to regulatory requirements.
  • Packaging and Supply Chain Engineering: Oversee the packaging and supply chain engineering functions, ensuring the development and optimization of packaging processes, materials, and transportation strategies to enhance efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Functional Training: Collaborate with the Learning and Development team to design and deliver training programs that enhance the technical skills and knowledge of shop floor personnel, ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure compliance with quality management systems, regulatory requirements, and Roche's quality standards. Implement and maintain processes to drive continuous improvement, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
  • Incoming Inspection: Oversee the incoming inspection process, ensuring the inspection of materials and components to meet quality standards and specifications. Collaborate with suppliers to address quality issues and improve incoming inspection processes.
  • Leadership and Team Management: Provide strong leadership to the team, including leaders within the shop floor enabling functions, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and innovation. Set clear objectives, provide regular feedback, and support individual development plans.
  • Innovation: Foster a culture of innovation within the shop floor enabling functions, encouraging new ideas and initiatives to improve processes, increase efficiency, and drive continuous improvement. Actively scout for innovations in the market that could benefit the organization and collaborate with external partners to explore and implement innovative solutions.
  • Travel: 10%

Who You Are

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in technical support, maintenance, packaging, or supply chain engineering roles within a manufacturing or distribution environment.
  • 5 or more years previous experience in people leadership is required.

Specialist knowledge :

  • Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of technical support, maintenance best practices, packaging processes, and supply chain engineering principles. Familiarity with quality management systems and regulatory requirements is essential.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams. Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills. Ability to inspire and motivate others to achieve operational excellence.
  • Analytical Thinking: Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze complex data, identify trends, and develop data-driven solutions to improve operational efficiency and quality.
  • Change Management: Demonstrated experience in driving and managing change initiatives, with a focus on continuous improvement and lean principles.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Thorough understanding of relevant regulatory standards and requirements within the pharmaceutical or medical device industry.
  • Project Management: Proficiency in project management methodologies and tools, with a track record of successfully delivering projects on time and within budget.
  • Quality Mindset: Strong commitment to quality, patient safety, and compliance. Experience in implementing and maintaining quality management systems is desirable.

Relocation benefits are available for this posting

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of Indianapolis, IN is $143,100 - $265,700. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below. Benefits
