Full Stack Engineer - Java/AWS

Are you ready to lead Vanguard in building API Micro Services on AWS using cloud native architecture to help migrate data to the cloud?

We are seeking a Senior developer to help generate robust APIs and provide strong technical leadership on one of the most important projects at Vanguard. This team’s primary focus is to build Industry standards APIs, migrate data to the cloud to enables us to produce faster experimentation, thus providing client value faster and retiring monolith applications.

What it takes:

• Provide senior level system analysis, design, development, and implementation of applications and databases. Integrate third party products.
• Lead Enterprise Modernization Initiative to move data from DB2 and make AWS cloud data store the gold copy, passionate about working with innovative next-generation technologies.
• Translate technical specifications into code for complex new or enhancement projects for internal clients. Write programs, develop code, test artifacts, and produce reports. Employ software development techniques to ensure tests are implemented in a way that support automation.
• Elevate code into the development, test, and production environments. Provide follow up production support.
• Thoroughly understand software development methodology and architecture standards. Train and mentor staff with less experience.
• Participate in design, code, and test inspections throughout the life cycle to identify issues. Explain technical considerations at related meetings, including those with internal clients. Perform systems analysis activities.
• Interface with cross functional team members and communicates systems issues at the appropriate technical level for each audience.

Specializations that make an impact:

• Experience with AWS services (ECS, DynamoDB, Lambda, EC2, S3, Glue) and cloud engineering best practices.
• 5 years of hands-on software development experience in a service-oriented environment using Java and/or Python.
• Minimum of 5+ years of development experience.
• Familiarity with DevOps concepts, tools and continuous delivery pipelines - Bamboo, Jenkins, Maven, Bitbucket, Jira.
• Enthusiasm for product health monitoring in test and production environments using Honeycomb/Splunk and CloudWatch.
• Demonstrated experience with API design standards, patterns, and frameworks (e.g., REST, GraphQL, OpenAPI, OAuth, Spring).
• Test automation and test-driven development practices and frameworks – mutation testing, functional testing (JUnit, Cucumber), mock frameworks (Mockito, etc.), contract testing.
