At Bernhard, stability, innovation, and growth are more than just values they are the pillars of our continued success.OverviewThe Estimator IV will be responsible for preparing and/or coordinating the preparation of estimates on internal and external projects as required by client's documents and providing pricing/budgets. Also responsible for long-term growth of the business by building professional relationships with customers and mentoring estimating staff.ResponsibilitiesSpecific responsibilities include:Review and evaluate bid requestsPrepare weekly bid calendar and ensure timely completion of pricingReview estimates and revisions for completeness and accuracyReview project documents and understand scope of work as well as identify any potential pricing gapsExecute material and project documentsInput take-offs into computer spreadsheet and review completenessObtain bids from subcontractors and vendors as well as overall strategizing with subcontractors and vendors on creating a competitive edge and award strategyPrepare cost analysis in computer by recapitulating material, labor, equipment, subcontractor and overhead costs incurred in the installation of itemsGenerate an estimate where predetermined standard(s) are not availableInform immediate supervisor of any observed inaccuracies or omissions in quoted item or computer databaseDevelop and maintain resource information on products, vendors, subcontractors, government requirements, etc.Develop relationships with customers for better bid-day communication and possible advantagesAssist Business Development with procurement strategies, suggest leads, discuss possible selling points and review needs. This includes attending sales activitiesAttend and participate in project scope review meetingsPhotocopy documents and plansThis position is Full-Time, Exempt, and reports to Vice President of Estimating.QualificationsRequired Education, Experience and Qualifications8+ years of related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and expertise.Ability to read and interpret documents such as drawings, specifications, bid forms, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.Speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.Experience with estimating techniques and cost control.Ability to perform detailed labor and material take-offs.Effective verbal and written communication skills.Detail oriented and willing to tackle various ongoing projects in a fast paced environment.Well versed in the industry and the Company's competitors.Excellent multitasking skills, with the ability to perform duties outside of scope of work when necessary.Preferred Education, Experience and QualificationsKnowledge of Estimation software is strongly encouraged.Travel RequirementsInfrequent travel to Company or client locations.
