This team requests EST hours and we prefer candidates able to work onsite from our Romeo, MI office.

The Facility Engineer works full-time at Michigan Proving Ground (MPG) in Romeo, Michigan (Department T630). The engineer is responsible for maintaining, upgrading, and new installations of MPG’s buildings, test events, and track system. The job is accomplished thru working with hourly United Auto Workers (UAW) Skilled Trades / Ground Maintenance personnel and MPG’s Construction Commodity Manager (CCM). Funding for the work comes from MPG’s maintenance budget and capital funding which requires managing budgets and writing appropriation requests. The engineer will be expected to work with local employees (represented and non-represented Ford personnel, as well as non-Ford personnel) and communicate with testing, engineering, and management teams.

  • Plan & manage maintenance projects, Plan, write, & manage capital projects, 5-year project planning.

  • Website/ All Documents Owner & developer MPG & Vehicle Development Operations (VDO)

  • Combustion safety salary lead, Electrical salary lead, Safety Inspections for contractors, Biennial electrical inspections, Update Electrical Control & Power Lockout (ECPL) placards.

  • Lead weekly UAW meetings, Labor clearance processing.

  • Lead for Motorola radios & TRBO net

  • VEV brake engineer approve all Corporate Engineering Test Procedure (CETP) updates, Skid testing, Corrosion facility engineer, Squeak & Rattle test facility engineer, Chassis dyno engineer, Electric vehicle charger engineer, Water ingestion engineer.

  • Building Automated Systems Services (BASS) Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) system expert, Quality Operating System (QOS) data collection and archiving, maintain weight shed scales

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) in electrical/mechanical engineering or construction management

  • 5+ years of experience as facility engineer or construction project manager.

  • Proficient in utilizing Microsoft Office (Excel, Word. Outlook)

  • Capable of writing & troubleshooting Visual Basic programs

  • Solid organizational skills including proven ability to multi-task.

  • Ability to work independently with excellent problem solving skills.

  • Solid verbal and written communication skills

  • Capable of leading multiple meetings per week interfacing with senior leadership from MPG, VDO & Vehicle Evaluation and Verification (VEV)

  • Proficient in Webex usage

  • Experience with data acquisition systems – installation, troubleshooting, and repair.

This position is a range of salary grades 6-8 .
