Job Requirements / Description

This position is responsible for working with all Graniterock Team Members to ensure compliance with the Graniterock Safety & Health Program, keep our People safe, and ensure alignment with Graniterock’s Strategic Priorities and business objectives.

Essential Job Accountabilities

  1. Comply, understand, and promote corporate and division safety initiatives to ensure “Safety Before All Else.”
  2. Conduct workplace inspections for hazards and compliance with government regulations and Graniterock policies. Prepare written reports of findings and recommendations for improvement for management.
  3. Assist and provide guidance for operations management regarding federal and state safety & health regulatory and Company policy compliance.
  4. Conduct or coordinate training on Company safety & health policies and programs for existing team members and/or new hires.
  5. Participate in incident investigations and prepare written reports as required.
  6. Act as a liaison between operations management and government safety & health agencies and insurance partners as first point of contact.
  7. Assist the Safety Manager with identifying and developing the safety and health processes to reduce the risk of incidents occurring and improve compliance with regulatory safety and health requirements.
  8. Promote safety awareness by developing and distributing memorandums, safety bulletins, safety alerts and specific task training programs.

Education and Work Experience

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Engineering or Industrial Hygiene, or related equivalent, relevant work experience.
  2. 2+ years Safety and Health generalist experience.
  3. 1+ years in an operations role preferred.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  1. Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive and personal information of Team Members.
  2. Ability to cultivate trusting, professional, and respectful relationships with all Team Members.
  3. Proficiency with MS Office products (Word and Outlook).
  4. Knowledge of HCSS Safety Software.
  5. Knowledge of general safety and health regulations and laws, including DOSH, OSHA, MSHA DOT, CVC, NRC, RHB, Worker’s Compensation.
  6. Knowledge of safe work practices.
  7. Strong written and oral communication skills.
  8. Ability to meet deadlines.
  9. Public speaking and presentation skills a must.
  10. Sense of urgency.
  11. Leadership skills to promote and influence a positive work environment.
  12. Able to work weekends and after regular business hours, as needed.
  13. Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

This position has been identified as a “safety sensitive” role and is subject to random drug and alcohol testing, per the Graniterock Substance Abuse policy.

Salary will be determined based on the individual’s knowledge, skills and experience. Ranges are aligned with market data and/or collective bargaining agreement rates.
