Role Summary
This Principal Safety Analysis Engineer role has two major objectives: coordinate, execute and document the analysis methodologies, tools and plans for the overall development timeline, and serve as a subject matter expert for new and novel analysis measures to connect across the multiple domains levels of system abstraction.
Role Responsibilities
Product Certification and development activities (70%):
- Responsible for leading analysis activities for our internally and joint developed hardware and software components
- Acts as single-point-of-contact & on-site support for U.S. Partners performing system analysis for safety and reliability
- Manages the timelines, requirements, dependencies & logistics for delivered work products.
- Integrate and create tools to expedite or automate the speed at which analysis is performed.
- Manages the teams backlog to guarantee in-time delivery.
- Reports the analysis status to CARIAD stakeholders & management.
- Manage and deliver learning modules to further the standardization of analysis internally to Cariad.
Additional activities (30%):
- Creation of safety relevant documentation, requirements and specifications and reports.
- Status reporting to project stakeholders (domestic and international).
- Leading contract engineers on analysis activities.
- Leading new project proposals to stakeholders (domestic and international).
Years of Experience
- 12+ years of Safety Engineering industry experience including at least 5 years of hands-on experience in development of operating systems, middleware and/or communication fabric for safety critical systems.
Required Education
- Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in Electrical/Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mechatronics or related technical field
Desired Education
- Master’s Degree (or greater) in Electrical/Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mechatronics or related technical field

Required Skills:
- Deep knowledge, understanding and hands on experience in ISO26262 standard.
- Proven track record in architecting end to end safety of one or more automotive software only elements and having taken it from proof of concept to successful production.
- Strong knowledge and experience in FMEDA, DFMEA, FMEA and fault campaign.
- ADAS safety requirements for L2++, L3, L4
- Experience in Safety management, traceability, analysis and tracking tools
Desired Skills
- Background and knowledge in ISO 21434, ISO 21448 and UL-4600 Standard.
- Knowledge of software architecture for L2++, L3, L4
Work Flexibility
- Calls, (virtual) meetings & workshops (overlapping with German business hours as needed) to align with stakeholders and development teams in Germany.
- Occasional international and domestic travel to provide on-site support and planning/integration workshops with our internal and external stakeholders.
Compensation
The salary range across the US for this remote position is $128,400 - $235,000. Salary range is dependent on factors such as geographical differentials, credentials or certifications, industry-based experience, qualification and training.
