Systems Engineer II – Wireless Practice Lead

WHAT YOU’LL DO:
The Systems Engineer II – Wireless Practice Lead will be responsible for designing, installing, integrating, and maintaining wireless technologies. In this role, you will:
- Lead wireless network engineering projects, including design, integration, testing, installation, and support of wireless network infrastructure.
- Perform network design activities on HPE/Aruba, Cisco, Meraki, Juniper (local or cloud-managed systems) for large enterprise data networks.
- Perform wireless site surveys and analyze results for best optimal wireless deployment.
- Investigate, design, plan, and implement physical and logical wireless communications networks.
- Prepare schematics to define and illustrate wireless network design solutions.
- Create design documents containing instructions to be used by clients and technicians.
- Provide proactive monitoring of the network using configuration and troubleshooting tools like Cisco Meraki Cloud, HPE, Aruba, Juniper.
- Conduct capacity planning for internal and external network connections.
- Five (5) or more years of experience as a senior-level wireless network engineer.
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
- Cisco Certified Networking Professional (CCNP) or equivalent certifications from manufacturers like Aruba, HPE, or Juniper.
- Strong knowledge of Wi-Fi protocols, including all IEEE 802.11 standards and supporting networking protocols (DNS, DHCP, RADIUS, TCP/IP, UDP, OSPF, BGP, MPLS, VPN, ACLs, LDAP).
- Ability to perform and analyze Wi-Fi surveys using tools such as Ekahau.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Proven ability to install, configure, and troubleshoot IT equipment in a multi-protocol district-wide wireless network with centralized and cloud-based controllers.
- Experience collaborating with local and field engineering teams and contracted vendors to ensure swift responses to critical issues impacting clients.
- Experience installing and maintaining identity solutions like Cisco ISE, Aruba ClearPass, or Microsoft NPS.
- Strong understanding of wireless security using 802.1x and best practices to ensure strong wireless network security.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Active Directory, DHCP, DNS.
