Software Engineer

Description:

As an Application Developer with Synergy, you will join the team supporting the mission of the Officer of the Chief Information Officer for a Federal government agency. Under the direction of the Synergy Project Manager and Technical Lead, the candidate will work with the customer's Data Services team to manage existing code and develop new code for various business applications available to stakeholders.

Essential Functions & Duties:

1. Act as the lead developer for the customer's scope of work
2. Consult with project teams and end users to define application requirements
3. Estimate level of effort to implement backlog items
4. Explain correctives and enhancements to the customer for acceptance
5. Design, develop, enhance, test, and debug code
6. Perform new code deployments and integration across all environments
7. Troubleshoot and resolve problems related to business applications
8. Participate in development of end user best practices and guidance documents
9. Define and maintain standard operating procedures using industry best practices

Skills, Qualifications and Certifications of Best Candidates:

1. Experience required:

• Ruby programming language
• Ruby on Rails web application framework
• ReactJS programming language
• AWS Services: Lambda, API Gateway, Step Functions, EventBridge, Systems Manager, S3, EC2, MySQL RDS, DMS, and CloudFormation
• Work in an agile environment, using Jira for sprint, task, and workload management
• DevOps and CI/CD processes to automate deployment using tools such as Ansible, GitLab, and SonarQube
• Understanding of application programming interfaces (APIs)
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications, specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneDrive, Teams and SharePoint
• Ability to clearly communicate technical issues and status verbally and in writing with the team and Federal staff/customers
• Experience with Federal Government Customers, with a current or previously successful background investigation

• Python programming language
• SQL scripting
• Snowflake data warehouse

Citizenship or Work Authorization Required: US Citizen or US Work Authorization

Preferred Education & Experience: 6 years of experience and a Bachelor's Degree.
