The Role: Automotive Electrical Design Engineer – Advanced Vehicle Systems

Are you a skilled engineer ready to take on exciting challenges in automotive electrical design? We are seeking motivated Automotive Electrical Design Engineers to join our innovation team. In this role, you will help develop advanced vehicle electrical systems that align with customer needs, market trends, and global electrical platforms. Your work will ensure seamless integration of electrical components and enhance future mobility solutions.


Location: Saline, MI

Work Schedule: Hybrid with flexibility. Must be available to work onsite all five days if required.


Key Responsibilities

  • Vehicle Electrical System Design: Plan, develop, and adapt advanced electrical systems for multiple vehicle models using a global electrical platform.
  • Customer & Market Research: Conduct research on customer needs, market trends, and competitor benchmarking. Attend industry events and collaborate with research groups to stay ahead of emerging trends.
  • System Requirements Definition: Prioritize customer needs and translate them into technical requirements and performance goals.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with stakeholders from R&D, Sales, and Quality to align on design priorities.
  • System Specifications Development: Create specifications that define system purpose, requirements, and target performance.
  • Business Case Development: Prepare business cases, including development costs and sales plans, to align with internal stakeholders.
  • Project Management: Manage project schedules, key milestones, and regularly report progress and risks to leadership.
  • Prototype Development: Build and test hardware prototypes to validate design concepts.


Must-Have Qualifications

  • Degree Requirement: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Embedded Systems, or a related field.
  • Technical Knowledge: Expertise in automotive electrical systems, ECU specifications, and LAN networks (CAN/Ethernet).
  • Power System Knowledge: Familiarity with 12V and high-voltage power distribution systems.
  • Communication Skills: Strong collaboration and negotiation skills to align with internal stakeholders.
  • Presentation Skills: Ability to present technical data in a concise, clear way for executive-level communication.
  • Platform Knowledge: Strong understanding of electrical platforms and integration.

Bonus Skills

  • Industry Experience: 5+ years working with automotive electrical development processes.
  • Software Defined Vehicle Development: Familiarity with software architecture, such as hypervisor systems.
  • Software Development Experience: Experience with machine learning, control software, and application development.
  • Programming Skills: Proficiency in C++, Python, TensorFlow, Numpy, or MATLAB.
