Your role at Clorox:


The Glad/Brita Business Unit Supply Chain Tech Team is seeking an engineering expert focused on Glad Blanket Bag Conversion technology and integrated systems. This position will also support Brita manufacturing as needed. The engineer will utilize Clorox Engineering Practices, Reliability Engineering principles, and Early Management Tools to optimize manufacturing performance at Glad and Brita plants in Amherst, VA, requiring on-site presence at least four days a week. The role involves 25-50% travel for work assignments and collaboration with Operations, R&D, and the Clorox Supply Chain Central Engineering Team, while also engaging with suppliers and contractors for system improvements. Additionally, occasional support for Glad facilities in China, Ontario, or other external sites may be required, playing a crucial role in enhancing technology, efficiency, and reliability within the supply chain.


In this role, you will:


  • The individual is part of a team that has a technical ownership and leadership of the Conversion Platform. The individual will lead assigned areas that include owning the platform’s management of change program, standard for theoretical rates, line capability matrix, equipment purchase specifications, and communicating short & long-term capital needs.
  • Responsibilities also include providing technical oversight and guidance to others executing projects within the platform.
  • Provides technical support to manufacturing during instances of new or complex problems related to Conversion systems and proprietary systems incorporated into the line.
  • Regularly provides engineering leadership, consulting or support for trials and tests with R&D and other Supply Chain engineers.
  • Routinely interacts with Glad Extrusion Platform Team and Operations with regard to quality and performance opportunities for improvement and Commercialization Project integration.
  • In collaboration with others defines, manages, and critically reviews work products from R&D and others to provide scope input, detail for equipment system, control system, cost estimates and other engineering work for Conversion projects.
  • Will periodically perform function of capital project manager, including defining project scope, cost, schedule, obtaining Capital funding, procurement, and construction management. Using Clorox engineering standards and processes develop detailed project scope of work and cost estimates related to the design, functional changes and reliability improvements of Conversion Systems. Ensures that Glad proprietary information / knowledge / innovations are protected as trade secret within Clorox and the Glad business.
  • Design and lead trials in the plants to validate alternative materials or methods for cost savings, supply assurance, and quality improvements.


What we look for:

  • B.S, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering. Other engineering disciplines considered with previous manufacturing and engineering experience and demonstrated success.
  • 5+ years' experience in a progression of assignments in manufacturing and engineering developing increasing expertise and capability.
  • Able to apply engineering skills and experience to guide the design and evaluate precision machined or fabricated components and equipment set-up such as tooling, web guide components, film sealing systems, etc.
  • Experience with continuous improvement project in a Lean Manufacturing or Zero Loss manufacturing culture.
  • Previous experience with film converting, packaging, or injection molding operations.
  • Experience in establishing and maintaining effective business relationships with external contacts, including equipment suppliers and consultants.
  • Experience leading or working within an ongoing management of change process.
  • Experience with the development or application of predictive maintenance programs and technology applications to identify and eliminate defects.
  • Experience in the application of reliability engineering tools.
  • The position requires periodic business travel which is expected to average 25-50% annually.

The applicable salary range for every role in the U.S. is based on your work location and is aligned to one of three zones according to the cost of labor in your area.


–Zone A: $86,600 - $161,900

–Zone B: $79,400 - $148,400

–Zone C: $72,100 - $134,900
