SUMMARY

Under the general supervision of the Automation Manager, the Robotic Welding Technician is responsible for operating, programming, maintaining, and troubleshooting robotic welding projects. 


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create and develop full robot programs including, but not limited to, searching functions, error handling, coordinated motion, weld paths development, and PLC communication. Use various 3D offline programming software.
  • Recognize, set up, and operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade, such as shielded metal arc and gas metal arc welding equipment
  • Meets project schedules. Provides manufacturing manager and lead project engineer with timely status reports of projects.
  • Reviews layouts, mechanical prints, and electrical schematic drawings.
  • Service the robot weld torch and wire feeding system. This includes changing the torch, contact tips, gas diffusers, insulators, nozzles, drive rolls, and welding wire.
  • Troubleshoot robot errors and perform basic preventative and regular maintenance on the robotic welder.
  • Develop weld parameters for customer process. Ensure weldments meet or exceed set standards.
  • Maintaining robotic weld quality and efficiency.
  • Ability to read and understand weld prints and callouts
  • Assists with electrical and mechanical assembly to meet project schedules.
  • Travels as required to complete project tasks or field service assignments.
  • Stay current with new developments in the industry.
  • Comply with all quality and safety regulations.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Education and/or Experience

  • Associate's degree in a related field; equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • 1-2 years of experience programming and operating a weld robot
  • Experience with set-up and integration of weld equipment in an automated system
  • MIG/TIG welding experience, Laser welding a plus
