As an Analytics Engineer, you will play a key role in helping us harness the data we collect to drive the development and improvement of our educational offerings. In this role, you will help us build the workflow that turns data into meaningful insights. This position is ideal for a data professional with a big-picture focus, a collaborative approach, and a builder mindset.
The Analytics Engineer Will
- Develop dbt models to create a scalable semantic layer for analytics and reporting.
- Learn about and maintain existing data models and identify potential improvements to data models or modeling architecture.
- Create and maintain documentation of transformations and fields present in the model lineage.
- Test, evaluate, and code review others’ data models.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand current data structures as well as organizational goals, processes, and challenges to build out self-serve business intelligence infrastructure. This may include help building or improving dashboards.
- Ensure data is transformed accurately and efficiently so that analytics solutions align with business objectives.
- Ensure seamless integration of data models with business intelligence tools and organizational workflows, facilitating self-service insight.
- Implement and adhere to data governance best practices, ensuring data accuracy, security, and compliance.
- Collaborate on cross-functional teams including software engineers, data architects, business analysts, and leadership.
- Complete other tasks and responsibilities, as assigned.
The Ideal Candidate Has
- 3+ years of experience in an analytics engineering, data modeling, or related role preferred.
- Experience with a data warehouse like Redshift, Snowflake, or Databricks.
- Experience with ETL/ELT workflows using tools like dbt and Stitch.
- Advanced SQL knowledge including crafting efficient queries and performance tuning across the model architecture.
- Experience with business intelligence tools like Lightdash, PowerBI, Tableau, or Looker for data visualization and reporting is a plus.
- Experience with Python for data analytics is a plus.
