We are looking for a Media Network Engineer with a track record of delivering outstanding IT engineering support for media networks. This unique position will be responsible for the definition, architecture, commissioning, integration, and support of high-capacity audio and video networks and cloud workflows that provide the interconnected production backbone of OB trucks, flightpacks, operations centers, studios, and data centers used to enable sports, music, and entertainment productions around the world. The Media Network Engineer will be the go-to IT resource on the team, working to ensure that creative, technical, and delivery teams are all supported by cutting edge, fully redundant networks, enabling unique workflows for Apple.

Description
The Media Network Engineer will join a team of technology and creative stakeholders working on a wide variety of projects for Apple. In support of these efforts, this individual will exercise their networking expertise for initial system design, deployment, on-site operation, and post-operational support of the various media production networks and cloud workflows used to connect and enable content creation and media capture efforts. This individual will work closely with various production technology teams to ensure all infrastructure is connected with reliable media networks, allowing for high bandwidth audio, video, and control data signaling to pass throughout the production. This individual will be expected to troubleshoot complex technological and engineering challenges in real time, while working closely with technical production staff to clearly communicate issues and offer solutions on the fly. The Media Network Engineer will also serve as a domain expert and a savvy, hands-on technician in their field, keeping up on the latest and greatest in M&E networking technology to create improvements to current workflow, bring up of R&D and test systems, as well as work with a wide variety of internal and external technology teams and vendors to drive innovation in next generation media production capabilities.
Minimum Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience working in the following areas:
- Architecting, commissioning, or operating high capacity IT networks for professional grade media production facilities such as studios, operations centers, transmission centers, OB production trucks, flightpacks, or TV & Audio studios used in high profile sports, music, or entertainment productions.
- Expertise working with enterprise level networking hardware and software such as Arista, Cisco, Juniper, Nvidia.
- Hands on experience working with media data types, network traffic and topologies commonly found in IP based audio/video production environments such as SMPTE 2110, NDI, Dante, AES67, PTP, multicast, unicast, IGMP/PIM.
- Experience deploying cloud based Media and Entertainment production workflows and data interconnectivity on AWS - EC2, E3, CDI, MediaConnect, Elemental.
- Expertise in all things IT - TCP/IP, HTTP, VLAN, VPN, IPSEC, routing, multicast, unicast, and broadcast traffic, QoS, IGMP/PIM, RTP, RTMP, SRT, TCP, UDP, PTP, REST APIs, etc.
- Strong scripting and programming knowledge as applicable in IT environments.
- Highly organized with strong presentation skills for budgeting, costs, and design work. Comfortable creating technical documentation of complex systems using CAD, Omnigraffle, Visio or similar.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills while under time and resource constraints with strong prioritization and triage skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in REMI (remote integration) based media production environments.
- Experience working with professional grade production tools, included but not limited to: video switchers, routers, graphics engines, audio consoles, comms systems, video replay, NLE & DAW systems, media encoders & transport mechanisms, monitoring & telemetry, fiber based A/V transport.
- Experience in all common operating systems - macOS, Windows, Linux.
- Deployment of virtual machines and containers.
- QC of media signals in a media production environment for noise, compression artifacts, sensor based issues, quantization errors, aliasing, audio/video sync, etc.
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $150,000 and $225,500, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
