Job Title: Senior Project Engineer
Location: Memphis, TN
To provide project engineering expertise in support of plant wide project activities. The Sr. Project Engineer (SPE) will develop and implement capital projects to improve various plant operations. This position will also support infrastructure repair or expansion project activities. The SPE oversees project activities and is the main contact point for contractors and site stakeholders.
Nature and Scope:
The SPE should be experienced in project management in a chemical manufacturing facility. The SPE will need to develop project scopes based on a business case provided by the stakeholders. As part of the capital project execution, the SPE must be able to manage several projects simultaneously ensuring proper cost management, schedule adherence, contractor Coordination and site safety performance criteria are met. This position reports to the Director of Technical Services.
The position requires the understanding of and compliance with all safe work practices and environmental regulations. The SPE will comply with all Plant policies regarding changes to a production process. It is expected that this position will learn and gain good understanding of the process as part of the project execution.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Project Execution
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously from concept to completion.
- Demonstrated ability to estimate schedules and budgets and to deliver projects on time and on budget
- Ability to communicate to all levels of an organization in terms understood at each level
- Familiarity with OSHA 29.1910.119 (Process Safety Management) with demonstrated participation with and adherence to the standard.
- Familiarity with ASME Code Standards for Chemical Processing Equipment and Piping
- Ability to work within a Union represented environment and to mentor maintenance personnel and unit operators in a civil manner while conveying critical safety and operational knowledge
- Apply sound root cause analyses to problems and issues and define solutions to resolve them.
- Be knowledgeable of environmental and industrial safety regulations pertaining to the chemical operations affected by the project work
Requirements:
- Experience leading capital projects in a chemical plant.
- Degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering. A Professional Engineering License is preferred, but not mandatory.
- Knowledge and experience with AutoCad and MS Project is a must.
- Experience in project engineering and process design and improvements with quantified results.
- Demonstrated knowledge and use of Root Cause Failure Analysis systems
- Experience in leading projects ranging from $25K to $5MM
- Experience in writing technical specifications for vendors, scope and descriptions, and preparing capital requests
- Experience with PSM
- Experience tracking project performance metrics (schedule, budget, performance etc.)
- Ability to work with minimal supervision on several projects simultaneously.
