We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Machine Learning Engineer to deploy ML models in production, manage messy and limited data, and optimize models for AWS deployment to support Javalin, our AI-powered utilization management tool. You will also lead best practices, architect solutions, design processes, and mentor and potentially lead a highly skilled team as we scale the product.

The pay range for this position in Western Washington varies between $125,000.00 – $163,000.00, and for Eastern Washington varies between $110,000.00 - $135,000.00. Washington Dental Service and its affiliates, including Arcora Foundation, Delta Dental of Washington, and TriForza intends to offer the selected candidate a base pay within this range, dependent on job-related, non-discriminatory factors such as experience. Base pay will also be adjusted based on the candidate's geographic location.

- Lead the design and implementation of advanced machine learning models to automate and improve clinical tasks using diverse data sets like medical images, electronic health records, patient waveforms, and clinical reports.
- Develop, train, and deploy machine learning and deep learning models from scratch.
- Work with noisy and limited data sets, performing data wrangling as necessary to prepare data for modeling.
- Stand up ML/Computer Vision/NLP models in production, ensuring they are robust, scalable, and efficient.
- Collaborate with multi-functional teams to integrate ML models into the Javalin product.
- Optimize developed models for performance and efficiency.
- Stay ahead of the latest research and advancements in the field of ML/AI.
- Design and implement data augmentation pipelines and preprocessing strategies.
- Collaborate with product management and engineering groups to develop new product lines and features.
Experience, skills, and education required: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to successfully perform the essential functions of the position.
- 7+ years’ experience developing and training machine learning models for production and deployment.
- 5+ years’ experience designing and implementing large-scale AI solutions, including data ingestion, storage, processing, and deployment.
- Expertise managing large-scale data processing, advanced AI model training techniques, prompt tuning, model distillation, enhancing robustness, and model quantization.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work with limited or noisy data.
- Strong background in computer vision with experience deploying models at scale.
- Experience with cloud infrastructure providers such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform and machine learning frameworks and libraries (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow, Scikit-learn, Numpy, SciPy, HuggingFace).
- Proficiency in Python, SQL, and familiarity with .NET.
- Software development experience with a focus on building processes, testing, and operations experience.
- Published papers in respected conferences or journals (e.g., ICML, ICLR, CVPR, NeurIPS) preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills to partner between field and engineering teams.
- Strong attention to detail and a passion for quality and excellence.
- Experience in the dental or healthcare space preferred.
- Experience mentoring and managing junior level engineers preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Software, or comparable field of study, and/or equivalent work experience.
