As an Associate / Associate Director Electrical Engineer specializing in Science, Industry and Technology (SIT) at Arup, with all-round sector experience you will play a pivotal role in the design, implementation, and optimization of electrical systems within mission-critical data centre facilities and provide oversight of other building sector projects being delivered in the electrical team. Leveraging your expertise in electrical engineering and your in-depth understanding of data centre infrastructure, you will lead the development of innovative solutions to meet the demanding requirements of the SIT business. Other building sector experience valuable to this position include healthcare, education, commercial, aviation & leisure sectors.
You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers, architects, project managers, and clients, to deliver cutting-edge electrical designs that ensure the reliability, efficiency, and scalability of data centre operations. From concept development and detailed design to construction oversight and commissioning, you will be instrumental in delivering projects of exceptional quality on time and within budget.
The Opportunity
- Associate / Associate Director Electrical Lead on medium/high risk – major projects.
- Hold a leadership role with reporting responsibility in the buildings group and SIT business, both operational and business development focused.
- Spearhead the design of complex electrical systems tailored specifically for data centre environments, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency in cooling, ventilation, and fire suppression systems.
- Accountable for significant and complex activities or projects. Responsible for managing project and electrical team staff, quality, delivery, predicting and planning future resources.
- Proactively manage project activities to ensure alignment with strategic objectives and effectively address any significant conflicts or challenges, leveraging extensive expertise to provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members.
- Assume primary responsibility for designated segments of design projects, ensuring adherence to rigorous quality standards and precision in execution, while representing the team in key internal and client-facing meetings to provide expert insights and recommendations.
Is this role right for you?
- Recognized relevant tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering or similar area.
- Significant experience in Electrical Engineering within a consulting business environment and a strong work-winning track record (internal and external).
- Proficiency in relevant software and design tools.
- Experience in leading the development and implementation of Electrical Engineering solutions across a range of projects.
- Strong technical expertise in Electrical Engineering principles and practices.
