Work with Device Engineering Design and Manufacturing groups to develop unique design solutions, components, mechanisms, systems and finished products and support equipment.
Essential Job Functions:
• Applies engineering principles and techniques to develop novel engineering solutions using a variety of engineering tools.
• Assesses the feasibility and soundness of proposed engineering tasks, creates an execution plan for completion of tasks, and tracks progress as required.
• Performs CAD modeling of electromechanical assemblies to support the release of new designs and creates improvements to existing designs.
• Generates comprehensive Bill-of-Materials and ability to compare and crosscheck.
• Proactively communicates with the engineering team and supervisor regarding tasking, progress and development challenges.
• Interacts with other engineering disciplines for resolving technical issues.
• Manages the release of engineering documentation, drawings, assembly procedures, etc.
• Receives supervision and guidance related largely to overall objectives, critical issues, new concepts and policy matters.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Structural or Similar Engineering plus at least 5 years related experience.
Skills/Attributes:
• Must possess a strong knowledge of SolidWorks, minimum 3 years’ experience.
• Must be self-motivated and able to multitask and report efforts to project team.
• Ability to utilize analysis tools such as FEA, etc.
• Experience in a highly focused team environment on a large development project is preferred.
• Material selection and mechanical part fabrication processes.
• Experience with machined component design, sheet metal design, general fabrication, plastic injection molding, and assembly tooling.
• Experience conducting tolerance analysis with knowledge of GD&T.
• Able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Ability to generate presentations and technical articles for limited publication
• Ability to present technical information and to effectively present proposals.
• Ability to apply mathematical concepts to statics, kinetics, strength of materials, reliability testing, statistical analysis.
