General Purpose:
The Director of Engineering and Manufacturing, under the direct supervision of the President, shall have responsibility for all aspects of certain day to day engineering and manufacturing functions of the company.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Strategizes, plans and coordinates the work of engineering and manufacturing staff.
- Oversees Engineering Manager and ensures that they meet goals and objectives.
- Oversees Production Manager and ensures they meet goals and objectives.
- Recruits additional engineering and manufacturing staff as needed.
- Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
- Provides training and mentoring as needed.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Consults with President, Engineering Manager, and Production Manager to create long-range operating and manufacturing goals specific to the needs of the organization.
- Works alongside Quality and Regulatory department to take new products from concept through testing.
- Collaborates with marketing department and sales to determine market potential for new products.
- Oversee progress and timeliness of projects
- Review project reports to ensure projects are on schedule and within budget.
- Evaluates the on-going efficiency and effectiveness of day-to-day operations and analyzes issues impacting engineering and manufacturing departments
- Provides the necessary leadership to plan, organize, direct, coordinate and control the entire business operation to meet continuous growth and profit objectives of the company
- Sets standards for day-to-day activities including quality of work performance, achievement of company financial goals, project assignment and accountability, organizational and operational systems development
- Develop and maintain relationships with clients and vendors
- Identifies and implements changes based on business need
- Gives clear and adequate authority to managers to achieve their assigned metrics and KPI’s
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent managerial and supervisory skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Extensive technical knowledge of engineering and product development.
- Excellent financial skills and ability to analyze financial data.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering required
- Master’s degree in engineering or business administration preferred.
- At least 10 years of related experience required.
- Experience within a manufacturing environment, job shop, or discrete manufacturing.
- Project Management Experience Preferred
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
- Ability to traverse manufacturing facility and engineering lab.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $130,000.00 - $145,000.00 per year
