McKenney's, Inc. is seeking a Project Engineer – Supply Chain to join our Purchasing team in Atlanta, Georgia. This exciting role is an entry-level position designed to expose the employee to McKenney’s processes, capabilities, and scope of work.

JOB SUMMARY

As a Project Engineer – Supply Chain, you will be placed into a 12-month rotational program where you will support various departments involved in the life cycle of a construction project. During these rotations, you will participate in McKenney’s preconstruction, design, virtual construction, fabrication, project management, and installation phases of a project, as well as the technology processes involved. Throughout this program, you will not only gain hands-on project experience but also learn how each of these groups interact with the Logistics & Manufacturing Department. By the conclusion of the rotations, Project Engineers – Supply Chain will have gained exposure to our business, developed strong leadership skills, established impactful relationships, and expanded their knowledge and understanding of the construction industry.

After completing the rotations, the Project Engineer – Supply Chain will move into the Purchasing department to assist with process improvement and standardization projects and learn the fundamentals of Purchasing.

DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Rotational Experience

  1. Detail mechanical systems (ductwork, mechanical piping, and plumbing)
  2. Coordinate McKenney’s work with customers and other trades through the BIM process
  3. Estimate projects
  4. Interact with our suppliers, vendors, and subcontractors
  5. Work in the field as part of an installation crew
  6. Develop and implement technology tools for the business
  7. Assist in managing a construction project, including budgeting, scheduling, managing labor and material onsite, and building relationships with customers
  8. Develop strong relationships with project managers, foreman, virtual construction team members, field operations, engineers, suppliers, and other trade sub-contractors through consistent interaction and communication

Purchasing

  1. Analyze data to identify spending trends and make recommendations
  2. Assist Purchasing team members, Preconstruction, and construction project teams with vendor selection
  3. Request and review product submittals and IOMs by comparing them to contract documentation
  4. Create material tracking logs and write material POs and subcontracts.
  5. Collect feedback from project teams on vendor performance by making site visits and attending project meetings
  6. Research and resolve invoice and purchase order discrepancies
  7. Assist with periodic supplier performance reviews with key suppliers.
  8. Support the implementation and future developments of the Purchasing technology roadmap.
  9. Create and review Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and process maps for purchasing department processes as required.
  10. Assist in additional projects identified by the Purchasing Manager, Logistics Manager, Business Technologist, and Vice President of Logistics and Manufacturing

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Bachelor’s Degree preferred in Supply Chain Operations, Logistics, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
  2. Must have PC experience in Windows environments, working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail, Web-enabled applications, and database software

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Demonstrated successful experience in the construction industry
  2. Experience with Smartsheet
  3. Strong Business Acumen (entrepreneurship counts)
  4. Leadership exposure (conferences, training, etc.)

  10. Persistence to attain results under adverse circumstances and conflict

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT

  1. Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office environment.
  2. Work will require construction job site visits. This will require the physical ability to climb permanent and temporary stairs and ladders, passenger use of construction personnel hoists, and the ability to negotiate work areas under construction.
  3. Light physical effort handling average-weight objects up to 25 pounds may be required occasionally.
