Description

The Associate VP, Pharmacy Engineering oversees all aspects of dispensing automation and systems maintenance for CenterWell and Enclara Pharmacia's pharmacies. This includes all fabrication, installation, operation, application, maintenance, and repair of mechanical and electromechanical machines, equipment, tools, motors, and systems. The AVP, Pharmacy Engineering requires an in-depth understanding of how organization capabilities interrelate across the function or segment. This role is directly responsible for all system and mechanical uptime across all dispensing facilities.


Responsibilities

The Associate VP, Pharmacy Engineering will be an innovative leader of a team of 100 professionals overseeing the engineering success of the automated pharmacy. Decisions are typically related to the implementation of new or updated programs or large-scale projects for the function. In addition:

  1. Ensures maintenance and continuous improvement of quality and industry standards
  2. Evaluates mechanical products to determine cost effectiveness and efficiency
  3. Oversees and implements prescription drug distribution equipment and recommends design modifications to eliminate malfunctions
  4. Reduce cost-to-fill, increase throughput and improve quality
  5. Performs and leads tests of related software and equipment to ensure proper operation and freedom from defects, and devises improvements to current procedures and develops models of possible future configurations
  6. Supporting technical/operational procedures and processes, and implements strategic plans, drives goals and objectives, and improves performance

Key Candidate Qualifications

The ideal candidate will be a seasoned leader with at least 10 years of experience in leading engineering teams while growing and developing technical leaders. This person will have extensive demonstrated experience in progressive automation line design, with background managing multimillion dollar budgets and large-scale vendor partners. The following experience and attributes are also sought:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Engineering, with a concentration in Mechanical or Electrical engineering ideal, a master's is preferred
  2. Certification with Six Sigma and/or the Project Management Institute
  3. 5-10 years of experience leading and driving cutting-edge strategic automation development projects
  4. 5 years of experience leading cross-functional teams
  5. Experience working in Pharmacy or Healthcare preferred, knowledge of Medicare Advantage a plus
  6. Progressive operational experience with home delivery operations experience a plus
  7. The ability to consult, advise and effectively communicate with senior management on a range of issues
  8. Leadership experience over a large metric-intensive operational unit
  9. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  10. Strong verbal and written communication skills, including facilitation
  11. Must be passionate about contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experiences
  12. High energy individual with a sense of urgency and proven ability to meet deadlines under pressure

Location : Optimal location is Phoenix, AZ; Cincinnati, OH; or Orlando, FL; however this person can work remotely from any US location with willingness to travel
Travel : 20 - 40% depending on location
