Lead Software Engineer

VES, LLC is currently seeking a highly accomplished Lead Software Engineer with demonstrated success supporting and providing leadership within DoD organizations. For this position, you'll be supporting our efforts with the Joint Acquisition Task Force (JATF) in Tampa, FL, and helping to lead a software development team. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining software applications to support JATF mission objectives. You'll be working on a small team of exceptionally smart people to design and build cutting-edge technology, pushing the envelope of what is possible at the tactical edge.

General Job Duties

1. Lead and manage the JATF software development team to design, develop, and maintain software applications for JATF mission objectives.
2. Work closely with the JATF program manager and other stakeholders to understand requirements and design software solutions to meet their needs.
3. Develop and maintain software documentation, including software requirements, design documents, and user manuals.
4. Conduct code reviews, testing, and debugging of software applications to ensure they meet quality standards and functional requirements.
5. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior software engineers on the JATF development team.
6. Keep up-to-date with emerging software development technologies and methodologies to ensure JATF software applications are cutting-edge.
7. Act as the Site Lead for VES staff and projects.

Desired Requirements

1. Experience working on DoD acquisition programs.
2. Familiarity with cybersecurity and information assurance principles.
3. Experience with DevOps and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) methodologies.
4. Must be willing to travel when required, up to 25%.

Required Education And Experience

1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
2. 7+ years of experience in software development, with at least 3 years of experience leading software development teams.
3. Strong knowledge of software development methodologies, including Agile and Waterfall.
4. Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, and C++.
5. Experience with software development tools and frameworks such as Git, JIRA, and Jenkins.
6. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
7. Active DoD Secret clearance or higher.
