Job Description:
The Director of Engineering and R&D will play a pivotal role in shaping the vision and direction of product development at Client. Reporting directly to the VP of Sales and Engineering, the Director of Engineering and R&D will lead our engineering department and spearhead our product development initiatives. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker, a visionary leader, and a hands-on engineer with a proven track record of delivering high-quality, innovative solutions.
Responsibilities
Leadership and Strategy:
- Provide visionary leadership and strategic direction for the engineering department and R&D team.
- Collaborate with senior Client management and Raptor Scientific's VP of Product Development to align engineering and R&D efforts with company goals and objectives.
- Drive innovation and foster a culture of creativity and excellence within the engineering and R&D teams.
Team Management:
- Recruit, develop, and retain top engineering talent.
- Lead, mentor, and inspire cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality products and solutions.
- Establish clear goals and performance metrics for the engineering and R&D teams.
Product Development:
- Oversee the end-to-end product development lifecycle, from concept to launch.
- Work closely with the management team to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Ensure the timely delivery of high-quality, scalable, and reliable products.
Research & Development:
- Drive innovation through research and experimentation.
- Identify emerging technologies and market trends to inform product development strategies.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning and experimentation within the R&D team.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering. Advanced degree preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in engineering leadership roles, with a proven track record of delivering complex technical projects.
- 5+ years of experience in research and development, preferably in electro-mechanical systems and/or portable automated test equipment.
- Strong technical background with expertise in real-time embedded systems.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to build and motivate high-performing teams.
- Strategic thinker with a passion for innovation and technology.
