Junior Electrical Controls Engineer
Responsibilities:
- Select components and layout electrical control panels under supervision of senior engineer.
- Program sensors and pneumatic control components.
- Understand and learn the NEC /UL508A for control system design.
- Write and debug PLCs, HMIs and motion control programs at initial stages machine powerup.
- Create electrical schematics, bill of material based on, but not limited to, the instructions given.
- Follow rules and supervisor guidance regarding budgeting time.
- Rely on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
- Assist in the development of standards and procedures for the engineering and technical work performed within the department.
- Read and interpret customer specifications with the help of senior engineer.
- Modify and create machine electrical schematics.
- Work closely and collaborate with Mechanical Engineering members.
- Work closely under management directions but not limited to achieve own decisions in making process more efficient, within budget and on time.
- Communicate over phone with customers to assist in troubleshooting installed systems.
- Travel to customer sites for system installation, modifications, and all aftermarket electrical controls needs (up to 30%).
- Train and work closely with senior level Electrical Controls Engineers.
Requirements:
- Experience in Allen-Bradley PLC’s, HMI’s, AutoCAD.
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology.
- Literate using AutoCAD for all electrical design purposes.
- Understanding of—or ability to learn—industrial writing concepts.
- Knowledge of electrical schematic software (AutoCad or other CAD platforms).
- Interest in PLC and HMI programming, multi-axes coordinated motion control.
- Interest in hands-on machine work with sensor and actuator adjustments.
- Good organizational and communication skills.
