OUR MISSION
To power the world with creative and proven renewable energy solutions.

COMPANY SUMMARY:
SunShare started a movement in 2011 with a simple idea: to give anyone with an electricity bill access to solar energy. Over a decade later, we’ve created something even bigger — a new way for utilities and consumers to move from centralized power generation to distributed energy, tap the power of the private sector, and tackle climate change in a cost-effective manner. SunShare is America’s oldest and most experienced community solar company. We develop, own, operate, and subscribe all of our projects, providing our customers and stakeholders an unparalleled experience. We believe making clean energy choices for businesses, institutions, homeowners, and renters should be easy and affordable, and that anyone with an electric bill should have the option to enjoy clean, solar energy. SunShare is a dynamic, fast-paced, and highly driven company, having developed more than 120 MWs of operational solar projects for both large and small utilities. Our unique focus is developing and operating community-based solar projects. Headquartered in Denver, we are committed to hiring and developing the best talent from around the world. All full-time SunShare employees are treated as company owners and receive equity ownership in the form of stock options.

MISSION OF ROLE:
SunShare is seeking an experienced engineer/designer to join our engineering team in creating preliminary layouts within the 500kW-10MW project size range to specify initial equipment selection and direct third-party engineers in creating permitting & construction packages. The engineer must have some solar experience with ground-mounted systems and be familiar with the requirements and deliverables for bringing a project to completion. The ideal candidate would have experience using AutoCAD to create initial site plans, one-line & three-line diagrams required for interconnection applications, as well as communicating needs to third-party engineers. In addition to layouts and SLDs, the position will require the engineer to assist in department improvements through analysis & energy model creation for increasing efficiency. Furthermore, the position will require the candidate to assist with coordination and communication between external engineers to accurately convey project needs. The selected engineer will work with the Manager of System and Performance Engineering, Director of EPC & Operations, GIS analysts, and Development Directors to ensure the projects moving between the development department to construction are optimally designed, technical needs are met, and engineering requests with external engineers are communicated.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Using AutoCAD, compile site plans, single and/or three-line diagrams and interconnection applications required for initial project interconnection requirements.
  • Support interconnection from early to mid-stage interconnection application.
  • Compile conceptual site plans (Basis of Design) & other deliverables for third-party civil, electrical & structural engineers to bring plan sets to IFC.
  • Review 30%, 60%, IFP & IFC plan sets by third-party engineers to ensure compliance with county/city permitting requirements & SunShare design parameters.
  • Communicate and organize needs/task requests to and from third-party engineers for construction portfolio as needed.
  • Draft or modify layouts & compile technical quote deliverables as needed to support in meeting initial site permitting requirements for bid deliverables of engineering services & equipment selection.
  • Support development & GIS teams as needed with effective site selection and land assessment processes.
  • Create energy models for annual production using PVsyst from initial site selection to completion.
  • Assist with procurement efforts in selecting appropriate electrical & racking materials for sites using cost/benefit analysis and system optimization.
  • Identify performance enhancements and provide specific recommendations to optimize performance and eliminate system malfunction.
  • Research energy modeling and design standards for new technologies, such as storage projects, floating solar, and agrivoltaics.
  • Manage multiple projects and clients simultaneously with minimal oversight.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • BS in engineering required (Bachelor's in Civil Engineering preferred).
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience with AutoCAD, and PVsyst is required.

  • A minimum of 3 years total experience is required in design & construction process of solar PV projects.
  • Experience creating layouts for ground mounted (fixed tilt and tracker) PV systems.
  • Ability to perform engineering calculations as needed for SLD and equipment selection (string sizing for inverter inputs, maximum system voltage, overcurrent protection sizing). A minimum of 3 years of experience is required.
  • Ability to interpret initial site suitability analysis for initial site plan creation. A minimum of 3 years of experience is required.
  • Ability to read & understand plan sets from a technical perspective and convey needs between third-party engineers. A minimum of 3 years of experience is required.
