Job Requirements / Description
The mechanical estimator will be tasked primarily with the preparation of discipline-specific estimates supporting large multi-discipline efforts or smaller independent estimates. This position will deal with mechanical trades including structural, piping, welding, millwrighting, boiler making, and not mechanical (HVAC) systems. This position offers scheduling flexibility to split time between office and remote work.
Based on experience and qualifications, the candidate will be hired at either an Estimator or Senior Estimator level.

Job Responsibilities
- Identify the scope of work and perform quantity takeoff from RFQ information for piping and mechanical systems.
- Review available plans and specifications to make sure estimated materials are in compliance.
- Solicit pricing from material vendors and subcontractors.
- Coordinate with other team members when working on larger multi-discipline estimates.
- Ensure compliance with Cianbro QA/QC and safety standards as well as client and industry requirements.
- Ensure estimates are complete, well organized, and ready for review by management.
- Develop project schedules and write execution plans as required.
- Research and develop innovative means and methods.
- Prepare proposals when necessary in conjunction with business development resources.
- On successful bids coordinate with operations teams to provide a thorough transition and turnover of the estimate.
- The successful candidate will have five or more years of experience working in a mechanical or industrial environment at the craft, craft supervision, or engineering level. Alternatively, the candidate will have two years of similar estimating experience.
- Understanding of specific industry standards.
- Requires strong computer skills, familiarity with scheduling and estimating software (HCSS) and MS Office.
