Job Requirements / Description
The purpose of this class is to provide leadership and oversee planning, direction, control, and evaluation of all work associated with the day-to-day operation of the College’s Network Engineering team and networking environments.
Bachelor’s degree required, degree in networking technology or information technology management preferred. Five (5) years of experience managing an enterprise networking environment required. Experience with Cisco wired and wireless systems in an enterprise, multilocation environment required. Experience working with higher education computer services departments and project management certifications preferred.
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct supervision and evaluation to the Network Engineering staff.
- Plan and evaluate for the completion of scheduled projects and tasks.
- Develop the execution of strategic priorities and operational objectives.
- Collaborate and coordinate with institutional users to understand their needs and business requirements.
- Resolve problems related to IT systems.
- Establish goals and objectives for network operations consistent with CCBC’s mission, vision, and values.
- Provide leadership for the analysis of the college’s networking environment and/or associated projects.
- Implement and reinforce industry best practices amongst staff such as ITIL.
- Provide administration, configuration, deployment, and troubleshooting for LAN and WAN environments throughout the institution.
- Maintain project plans and task lists within the college’s workload management system TeamDynamix.
- Provide and promote professional development of staff, daily management, and conduct performance appraisals.
- Plan and prioritize staff assignments to achieve high operational and organizational performance and efficiencies.
- Monitor, assist, and follow up Help Desk tickets relating to the college’s networking environment and communications systems.
- Oversee, coordinate, and implement software, firmware, and configuration of enterprise networking equipment.
- Manage and evaluate the enterprise network environment, recommend future enhancements to reduce points of failure within the system and problem resolution timeframes.
- Enhance customer relationships by investigating user problems and needs; identify their source and determine possible solutions.
