Mott MacDonald is looking for an experienced designer, with the ability to independently evaluate, select and apply standard techniques, procedures and criteria using judgment in making minor adaptations and modifications. Assignments have clear and specified objectives and require investigation of a limited number of variables. Performance at this level requires developmental experience in a professional position or equivalent graduate level education. Performs non-routine assignments of substantial variety and complexity. Receives objectives and technical advice from supervisor. Work is reviewed for technical adequacy. May be assisted by lower level technicians. Function as part of a design team for small to large capital projects in the energy sector.
Responsibilities will include:
- Create civil grading and roadway/linear models using Civil 3D and prepare 2D drawing packages from the design models.
- Prepare material quantities (cut/fill volumes, etc.) from the Civil 3D model files.
- Produce various drawings specific to projects including; existing conditions, soil erosion plans, site layout, grading.
- Create drawings with minimal supervision.
- Develop technical drawings (determining appropriate scales, arrangement, and specific details of the drawings) from the concepts required by the engineering team.
- Respect and enforce internal and client policies and procedures in the preparation of drawings.
- Follow discipline-specific and company drafting standards.
- Perform other related duties that may contribute to the project's completions.
- Have knowledge of engineering principles and suggest design changes.
- Communicate with Project Managers and Team Leaders on workflow status in order to meet chargeability goals.
The ideal candidate will possess the following:
- Hold an associates or higher degree or equivalent technical qualifications in CAD.
- Have a minimum of ten (10) years of experience in civil drafting and/or engineering.
- Complete reviews of junior design staff.
- Have good communication skills (oral and written) in English.
- Excellent knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil3D software.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work to meet cost objectives, quality and deadlines.
- Time management skills and adaptation to change.

Salary Range: $100,000 - $130,000
